After India, will the Nissan Magnite be priced higher in Nepal?

10th June 2021
"Nissan has already raised the price of the Magnite three times in India in the last several months"

According to our sources, Nissan Magnite will see a price increase in the Nepalese market following a succession of similar increases in the Indian market.

Nissan has already raised the price of the Magnite three times in India in the last several months. The automaker blamed the price increase on an increase in vehicle part pricing. The price increase can also be attributable to a lack of semiconductor chips due to global shortage of same.

We may assume the price increase to apply to all Magnite subcompact SUV variants in Nepal also. In February, the Magnite sub-compact SUV was introduced in Nepal, with a starting price of Rs 29.49 Lakh. The subcompact SUV comes in four trim levels: XE (Base), XL (Mid), XV (Upper), and XV (Premium), with a total of 11 versions.

There are two engine options for the Magnite. A 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder normally aspirated petrol engine produces 71 BHP and 96 Nm, while a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces 99 BHP and 160 Nm.

The Magnite will come based on the CMF-A+ platform which also underpins the Renault Triber MPV in India. It is going to be the second product to get this architecture. The company has already revealed the concept images of its new SUV and the production version of the new Magnite is expected to retain most of the design elements borrowed from the concept.

The upcoming Magnite SUV sports a crossover inspired stance. Some of the key design highlights include LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights, faux skid plates, bold looking alloys, roof rails, and two-tone exterior treatment. It will also get a tapering roofline towards the rear-end. As suggested by a spy image in the recent past, the Magnite will feature massive claddings around the wheel arches contributing to its muscular appeal.

At the rear, there will be sleek, sculpted tail lights protruding out of the body with reminiscing outlines of the Triber's lights. Also, a wide 'Magnite' lettering will be seen centrally placed on the tailgate.

The Magnite SUV will likely feature the same 1.0-litre Energy petrol engine that's also found on the Renault Triber. This engine has been tuned to deliver 71 bhp of maximum power and 96 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options may include a 5-speed manual as well as an optional AMT unit. Also, the company may launch the turbocharged version of the engine which was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Nissan Magnite Subcompact SUV launched in Nepal

24th March 2022
"The Nissan Magnite comes into a crowded segment which has some really strong contenders."

The Nissan Magnite comes into a crowded segment that has some really strong contenders. As first impressions go the car comes across as a feature-rich, practical package.

The Magnite subcompact SUV has made its global launch in India and it enters a segment that has seen positive growth even in these trying times. The last few months have seen 2 new cars being added to an already long list in the segment and the Nissan Magnite which has just been unveiled globally will be the third new model to be added to that list and yes India will be the first market to get the car. The Nissan Magnite is powered by an all-new, 1.0-liter turbocharged engine that is one of the most powerful in the class.

Nissan Magnite production version has been finally unveiled after months of teaser images and specs being released by the Japanese carmaker which is betting big and hoping to storm the extremely competitive sub-compact SUV segment. Magnite indeed carries the weight of a whole lot of expectations for Nissan and will seek to challenge established players like Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as well as relatively new challengers like Kia Sonet.

Nissan Magnite

Magnite's face is flanked by extremely sleek LED bi-projector headlights, LED streak turn indicators, LED L-shaped DRLs, and LED fog lamps. While the blackened front grille bears a slight resemblance to the Dastun cars, the bonnet is sculpted with character lines and there is a silver skid plate to complete a sporty front visual profile.

From the side, Magnite's design benefits from square wheel arches and a ground clearance of 204 mm. The vehicle gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels while the functional roof rails mean that the owner would actually be able to use these to store and transport luggage or even cycles.

Nissan Magnite

The windows are sufficiently large - the roof tapering slightly towards the C-pillar - while the doors close with a reassuring thud courtesy extra seals to ensure a check on NVH levels. There is also a very visible silver body cladding on the sides which begin from the front wheel arch and stop just short of the wheel arch at the rear.

The rear profile of Magnite manages to keep things simple while still attempting to grab eyeballs. This is because of the small but sleek LED tail lights and the 'Magnite' badge just under the rear wiper. The silver skid plate makes a comeback here and there is a brake light mounted on the rear spoiler as well.

Nissan Magnite

There are 336 liters of cargo space - the rear seats can be folded in 60:40 split - which is sufficient for a vehicle in this segment although it appears that the lifting angle could be a little too high, especially for heavy luggage.

Nissan Magnite

An eight-inch infotainment screen almost instantly catches attention and offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This also puts out a rear parking feed as well as a side camera feed which may be helpful during parallel parking.

There are six speakers inside the Magnite while Nissan is promising an optional Tech pack at launch which would replace these with premium speakers. The same pack would also ensure the wireless phone charging system inside the Magnite, among other features like air purifier, puddle lamps, and ambient mood lighting.

Nissan Magnite

Since the doors open wide, getting in and out of Magnite may not be much trouble and the drive and ride position appears to be sufficiently high.

Nissan has also equipped Magnite with a Drive-Eco function which rates the driving by assigning scores while also suggesting ways to improve drive efficiency.

Nissan is also promising an engaging drive experience with a Turbo HTA0 engine option while buyers may also choose the company's much-acclaimed X-Tronic CVT transmission option. Magnite also claims to have the best-in-class turning radius of 5.0m.

Nissan Magnite

The carmaker says Magnite will come with a host of safety features which include dual airbags, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) for safer manoeuvering in tight spaces, Hill Start Assist (HAS), Traction Control, Anti-Roll bar, and ABS with EBD.

At launch, Magnite will be offered in multiple color options but Nissan is primarily highlighting the four-coat flare garnet red color which assumes slightly different shades when reflecting different lights at varying levels.

The Magnite price in Nepal are:

Exterior

First impressions are rather positive as the exterior design seems to be dazzling, similar to the concept. The grid is wider and taller than the other SUVs in the segment and gives the car a bolder stance from the front.

The chrome brackets around the grid will be standard even in the base version. Then there is a faux skid plate in silver touch with a black color above it.

There are LED headlights, L-shaped LED DRLs, and LED fog lamps and they make the front look more sporty. The Magnite is the first car to feature a new Nissan 2D logo.

An all-black dashboard with contrasting silver is available for the Nissan Magnite. The 7-inch colored instrument display is the most interesting feature. The basic layout of the central dashboard is similar to that of the Renault Triber. But with funky parts, including the Lamborghini-inspired AC vents on top, Nissan has spruced it up.

Key Feature Of Nissan Magnite

The Nissan Magnite features:

  • All-around view monitor
  • 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster
  • Rear armrest
  • Mobile holder
  • Android Auto
  • Apple Car Play
  • Echo function
  • Welcome animation.

The lights in the car are all LED, while the 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster and 8-inch infotainment system make the dashboard attractive. The 360 degrees camera, which is available for the first time in the segment, will entice the customers.

Engine

Nissan Magnite is equipped with 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine’s expected to make around 72PS power and 96Nm torque and will come mated to a manual gearbox as standard.

The more powerful engine is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes around 97 bhp of max power and offer 160 Nm of peak torque. This engine also is available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
