"The start-up of an electric two-wheeler EeVe India is preparing to release a new electric scooter"
The start-up of an electric two-wheeler EeVe India is preparing to release a new electric scooter.
The EeVe Soul, as it will be known, has received all of the necessary approvals from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and will be a high-speed electric scooter from the Odisha-based EV brand. The EeVe Soul will have a top speed of 70 kmph and a range of more than 130 km on a single charge, according to EeVe India Co-Founder and Director Harsh Didwania in an exclusive interview. The scooter, according to Didwania, will pave the way for more high-speed electric two-wheeler products from EeVe India.
"We have received all of the necessary approvals for the Soul, as it will be known. It has also been approved by the ARAI. However, the current second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused some supply chain issues. We hope to be able to make launch plans concrete by June or July 2021, once the vendor system and supply chain disruptions have been resolved. The plan is to release the Soul prior to Durga Puja and the festive season "Didwania stated.
According to Didwania, EeVe's range of electric two-wheelers is currently 45 percent localized, but the company is working to develop the capability to make all of its products in India. The company is in the process of raising funds to ramp up production, research and development, and to establish its own battery and electric motor assembly plants. The motors for EeVe's electric two-wheelers are currently sourced from Bosch in Germany, the batteries from China and the rubber and plastic components are manufactured locally in India.
