5 Smartphone fixes for you to do yourself | REVIEWS

"Be the repairer of your own mobile phone!"

It can totally ruin your day by dropping your phone and cracking the screen. Although most handsets are not made to be fixed, you can fix several issues with your handset for cheaper than an insurance claim with the correct tools and a little know-how. Opening up your phone would almost definitely cancel your warranty and, if you have insurance on your mobile, if you want to self-repair, you will possibly be unable to make a claim successfully. If a tiny screwdriver and electronic components make you happy enough, have it. However, before you try to crack open the phone, if you are uncertain or don't want to risk it, speak to your carrier or maker.

Broken Screen

Depending on how it is designed, repairing a broken screen can either be fairly easy and inexpensive or incredibly costly. You would need to disassemble your phone in both situations. In certain instances, it is possible to combine the glass and the digitizer (the layer that converts taps into inputs), which makes a replacement unit very costly. However, if they aren't, you can buy a reasonably cheap replacement screen.

Headphone Jacks

The failure rate will increase if moving parts are added to a system. Headphone jacks may not be motorized, but they see a lot of headphone action and if you exercise or have intense activity, tension will also be put on the contact points.

If the system is opened, it is relatively easy and inexpensive to replace headphone jacks, but this means that you can get in. Devices with unibody designs, no matter what mission you are attempting to accomplish, are difficult to open. Headphone jack units are normally self-contained and plug directly into the motherboard, although the speaker assembly is often attached.

Loose/Stuck Keys

Buttons can be removed nearly as quickly as opening the phone itself, like headphone jacks. For most hardware buttons in a smartphone, you can purchase replacements and change them out without too many issues. However, you can solve a lot of button issues with software if you're uncomfortable breaking open your mobile.

Camera replacement

Camera hardware seldom breaks outside of a broken lens, but camera sensors are relatively easy to repair internally (once again depending on how easy the handset is to open). The device is normally connected by a single cable, but you may often repair the outer glass without completely removing the camera from the motherboard if the glass is broken.

Water-Caused Damage

Of all mobile repairs, between 15 and 20 percent occur after liquid immersion or contact with either water or some other liquid. Such immersion or touch affects the circuit and can affect many components of the hardware or the motherboard. Such repairs include, in most cases, the replacement or reconnection of many sections.

All about Qualcomm Snapdragon 865

5th December 2019
"Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is built on TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process and has improved general performance of upto around 25%"

Snapdragon processor can be found in millions of phones worldwide and is one of the most popular and sought-after processor due to its good performance. Qualcomm recently unveiled its latest Snapdragon 865 processor for premium mobile application and we are diving deep into the improvements and changes the processor is bringing. In overview, Snapdragon 865 boasts notable improvements in gaming, AI, and photography and many more.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is built on TSMC's 7nm FinFET process and has improved general performance of upto around 25%, energy efficiency improvements of around 25% in comparision to Snapdragon 855. Snapdragon 865 processor also has overhauled its AI and imaging processor solutions. No integrated 5g but thats not a big issue as Qualcomm announced two separate SoCs with integrated 5G.

CPU and GPU

Talking about the CPU and GPU, this chipset has the most powerful combo you can find . In the heart of the Snapdragon 865 lies Kryo 585 CPU and Adreno 650.

Built with a Prime, Performance, Efficiency octa-core CPU configuration, largest prime core is an Arm Cortex-A77 clocked at 2.85GHz and paired with a 512kb L2 memory cache, flanked by three more big Cortex-A77 cores offering 2.4GHz peak clock speeds and smaller 256kb L2 caches each.

Smaller four Cortex-A55 cores with 128kb L2 caches and 1.8GHz clock speeds follows the big cores which is similar setup to Snapdragon 855. Qualcomm promises a 25% boost to both performance and power efficiency with Snapdragon 865.

On the GPU side the Snapdragon 865 is equipped with an Adreno 650 GPU promising a similar 25% performance gain for graphics rendering, and 35% energy efficiency improvement. There are other improvements which includes 144Hz refresh rate for QHD+ resolution displays, 10-bit HDR gaming, Desktop Forward Rendering support in Unreal Engine 4 games, and GPU updates provided via Google Play.

Yes, last point says GPU updates provided via Google Play. Google to separate its Adreno GPU drivers which will allow users to simply update the drivers over Google Play. New features, performance improvements, and even game optimizations can be delivered quickly just like updating an app.

AI

Use of AI in the mobile has grown significantly and Qualcomm this year has improved the Machine learning more significantly.

New Hexagon 698 DSP used in the chipset boasts a new Tensor accelerator for machine learning workloads offering 4x TOPS performance and 35% better energy efficiency than Qualcomm's previous Hexagon DSP.

This AI Engine includes a 3MB system cache and supports LPDDR5 2750MHz RAM to move data faster. This, combination of CPU, GPU, and DSP/AI processing capabilities, results a 15TOPS of AI performance which is double than the previous generation.

5G

Integrated 5G chipset became a thing this year with every manufacturer shifting to the integrated 5G shipset. But Qualcomm things differently, Snapdragon 865 has no integrated 5G and requires external modem for 5G. Qualcomm wants its partners to pair the chipset with Snapdragon X55 5G modem as all other 5G integrated chips are half as speedy as X55 5G modem. The Snapdragon X55 supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum with theoretical peak speeds of 7.6Gbps download and up to 3Gbps of upload.

Camera

Photography has become integral part of the smartphone and this new processor is bringing more improvements to the imaging sector. Snapdragon 865 has made some major changes to the image signal processor (ISP) producing new capabilities and features which includes support for up to 200MP camera sensors, 720p 960fps slow-motion video recording with no time limit, 8K 30fps video capture, on-device Dolby Vision HDR, and up to 64MP instant snaps while recording video.

Changes has been done by Qualcomm in the inner workings of its Spectra ISP as well. Instead of processing one pixel per clock cycle, the Spectra ISP now works on four pixels per cycle resulting in dropped clock speed of the ISP to make major power savings, while still pushing performance up by 40% to two gigapixels per second. This also keeps the ISP cool allowing to record 960fps with no time limits.

Snapdragon although more advanced still retains features from Snapdragon 855 like computer vision ISP capabilities, speeding up processing of HDR, scene detection, and noise reduction in low light.

All about Mobile phone addiction | REVIEWS

15th December 2020
"To live a safe, productive and happy life, it's important to eradicate this addiction."

Although an incredibly effective tool to be a smartphone, tablet, or computer, compulsive use of these gadgets can conflict with work, education, and relationships. It might be time to reconsider the use of technology whether you spend more time on social media or playing games like PubG than you communicate with actual people, or you can't stop yourself from reading messages, emails, or applications repeatedly, even if it has detrimental implications in your life.

Smartphone addiction is often fuelled by an Internet overuse epidemic or Internet addiction disease, often colloquially referred to as "nomophobia" (fear of going without a cell phone). After all, the addiction is rarely generated by the phone or tablet itself, but rather the sports, applications, and online realms that it binds us to.

It would not be incorrect to say that human beings have become technical slaves. In fact, we have grown addicted to our cell phones. Many individuals suffer from extreme smartphone addiction at present. It's like their life revolves around their phones, and without them, they can't do it for an hour. To live a safe, productive, and happy life, it's important to eradicate this addiction.

Causes of Mobile Phone addiction

causes

Virtual relationships.

Social networking, dating applications, texting, and email addiction can extend to the point that fictional, online friends are more valuable than relationships in real life. We have all seen couples seated in a restaurant together avoiding each other and just playing on their smartphones. While the Internet can be a wonderful place for meeting new people, reconnecting with old friends, or even beginning intimate virtual relationships, online relationships are not a safe replacement for experiences in real life. As they seem to live in a bubble, online partnerships may be desirable, not subject to the same pressures or strains as chaotic, real-world relationships. Instead of building long-term relationships, compulsive use of dating apps will turn the attention to short-term hookups.

Overload of Information.

Compulsive web browsing, video streaming, playing sports, or monitoring news feeds can result in lower job or school morale and detach you for hours at a time. From real-world relationships to interests and social pursuits, compulsive use of the Internet and mobile applications will lead you to ignore other elements of your life.

Online Compulsions.

Online compulsions will also lead to financial and job-related difficulties, such as poker, gambling, stock trading, online shopping, or bidding on auction sites like eBay. Although gambling addiction has been a well-documented concern for years, gambling has become even more available with the availability of internet gambling. Trading in compulsive markets or buying online can be just as financially and socially detrimental. In order to be online for the last remaining minutes of an auction, eBay addicts can wake up at odd hours. Only to witness the thrill of putting the winning bid, you can buy items you don't need and can't afford.

Here are signs and symptoms of mobile phone addiction:

symptoms

  1. To have the same desired outcome, the mobile phone needs to be used more and more frequently.

  2. Persistent efforts to use mobile phones less often have failed.

  3. Fixation with using a smartphone.

  4. When having uncomfortable emotions such as fear or sadness, it switches to the mobile phone.

  5. Excessive usage with a lack of sense of time.

  6. Owing to improper mobile phone use, he has put a friendship or career at risk.

  7. And immunity.

  8. Need for the newest smart devices, additional games, or expanded usage.

  9. Withdrawal, where it is difficult to access a mobile phone or network.

  10. Rage.

  11. Tension.

  12. Depression.

  13. Irritability.

  14. Restlessness.

Trouble completing jobs.

Will you see laundry piling up for dinner in the house and no food when you've been busy talking, texting, or playing video games online? Perhaps you find yourself too frequently running late and you can't finish your job on time.

Isolation from friends and relatives.

Is it because of all the time you spent on your phone or some laptop that your social life suffers? Can you lose track of what is being said while you are in a meeting or speaking with friends while you are searching for your phone? Have friends and relatives shared worry about your phone's amount of time you spend? Do you feel like nobody, except your family, knows you like your online peers in your everyday life?

Hiding the use of a smartphone.

Are you sneaking off to a safe spot to use your phone? Do you cover the use of smartphones or fib about the amount of time you spend online with your boss and family? When your online time is disrupted, do you get annoyed or cranky?

Getting a' fear of losing out' (or FOMO).

If you don't check your phone daily, do you hate feeling out of the loop or think you're losing out on important news or information? Do you continue to scan social media compulsively when you're worried about someone enjoying a great time, or living a more interesting life than you? Do you wake up and search for your phone at night? When you leave your mobile at home, the battery runs out or the operating device fails, you feel fear, nausea, or panic. Do you think your phone has vibrated, but when you check, there are no new texts or updates? Or do you sense ghost vibrations?

Here's how you can control mobile addiction

control

Recognize the causes that make you use your phone.

Is that when you're bored or lonely? For starters, if you are dealing with depression, tension, or anxiety, the excessive use of smartphones may be a way to soothe rocky moods. Find better and more productive ways to control the moods, such as using calming strategies, instead.

Understand the contrast between in-person and online contact.

Human beings are organisms that are relational. For human contact, we are not supposed to be alone or to depend on technology. Face-to-face physical interaction with another person, making eye contact, reacting to body language, will help you feel relaxed, comfortable, and heard, and put the brakes on stress quickly. Interacting with these nonverbal messages that text, email, or texting would not have the same impact on your emotional well-being. Besides, when a tragedy strikes, online buddies will not hug you, meet you when you're ill, or share a joyful moment with you.

Build up your coping ability.

Maybe your way of dealing with frustration or rage is tweeting, texting, or posting. Or maybe you have difficulty communicating with others and find it easier to chat with others online. Without depending on your smartphone, developing skills in these fields will help you deal with the pressures and strains of everyday life.

Recognize any underlying issues that might help your compulsive behavior.

Have you had alcohol or addiction issues in the past? Would something about the use of your mobile remind you of how you used to numb or distract yourself by drinking or using drugs?

Reinforce your network of support.

For friends and family, set aside devoted time each week. If you are shy, without relying on social media or the Internet, there are ways to conquer social awkwardness and make lifelong friends. Try reaching out to friends at college, joining a sports team or reading club, enrolling in an education program, or working for a good cause, to meet others with common interests. You will be able to engage with people like you, let relationships grow naturally, and form friendships that will enrich your life and improve your well-being.

Assisting a child or teenager with mobile addiction

teen-mobiles
Any adult who has attempted to pull an infant or adolescent away from a mobile or tablet understands how tough it can be to isolate children from social media, texting applications, or videos and games online. Youngsters lack the wisdom to curtail their own use of their mobile, but merely confiscating the gadget will also backfire, generating your child's fear and withdrawal symptoms. Instead, there are several other ways to help achieve a healthy balance for your child:

Be a positive role model.

Be a positive role model. Children have a powerful impulse to mimic, so controlling your own mobile and Internet use is crucial. It's not good to ask your kid to unplug when you're looking at your own phone or tablet at the dinner table. Do not let the use of your own smartphone detract from relationships between parents and children.

Use apps to monitor and restrict your child’s smartphone use.

A variety of applications are available that can limit the use of data by your child or restrict texting and web access at different hours of the day. When in motion, some software can disable texting features, so you can discourage your teen from using a mobile while traveling.

Develop "phone-free." areas

Limit the use of smartphones or tablets to a shared area of the house where you can keep an eye on the actions of your child and restrict online time. Ban phones from the dining table and bedrooms and insist that after a certain point in the night they are switched off.

Encourage other social events and desires.

By introducing your child to other interests and events, such as youth sports, scouting, and after-school clubs, get your child away from the computers. Spend time unplugged as a family.

Speak about the root concerns with your kids. Compulsive use of smartphones can be a symptom of deeper issues. Does your kid have trouble fitting in? Has there been a significant recent transition, such as a relocation or divorce, which creates stress? Is your kid struggling at school or at home with other problems?

Find assistance.

Teenagers frequently revolt against their parents, but they may be more likely to listen if they hear the same details from a particular source of authority. Try a sports coach, psychiatrist, or acquaintance with a respected family. If you are worried about your child's mobile use, don't be afraid to pursue licensed counseling.

Conclusion

Mobile addiction is increasing day by day. With the introduction of a new and more engaging app, people are spending more time on their mobile phones instead of focusing on their real life. People have become confused. Having made his mobile phone central to his life, he has created a new world for himself. It is tragic to see how mobile addiction is robbing people of their real life.

5 Motorcycle Maintenance Tasks You Can Do Yourself

25th January 2021
"Do it yourself!"

You should service your bike where you can trust people. And whom do you trust the most? Yourself! You wouldn’t exchange your original motorbike parts for some cheap ones for money. You love your motorbike. And for all the motorbike rider/lovers out there, here are some things you can do yourself so others won’t touch the love of your life! Also, you could save so much if you didn’t have to pay for all the servicing that you do for your bike.

All these things aside, your bike might need various things that are just for your bike. Counsel your motorbike expert prior to starting to instruct yourself about issues, for example, the area of channels and attachments, and which parts you should eliminate to get to them; appropriate sums and kinds of different fluids, and stretches for evolving them.

Cleaning your chain

chain

These days, most chains are O-ring chains; they need less cleaning than the unsealed chains of the old style. When it gets really dirty, or at the mileage your owner's manual recommends, you'll want to clean the chain. Boost the rear wheel of your bike as you do so and bring the transmission in reverse, allowing quick movement of the chain. Use a brush to clean the cassette first and then clean the chainrings. All with soap or a degreaser; whatever suits you. Now clean the chain and rinse it with water.

Changing the coolant

Remove any necessary bodywork to gain access to the coolant drain bolt, then put a drain pan under the engine and remove the bolt when it is time to change the coolant, which prevents the engine from overheating or freezing, or corroding. Remove the radiator cap to make sure it drains. Reinstall the drain bolt once the procedure is complete. To refill the system with the required amount of coolant, use a funnel. Put the radiator cap back on and reinstall any removed bodywork. Until cutting off the ignition, start the engine and allow it to warm up for a few minutes. Remove the radiator cap once the engine has cooled and checked the coolant level. If required, add more coolant to meet the quantity listed in the owner's manual.

Maintaining tyre pressure

tyre-pressure

Your tyre pressure should be tested at least once a month. Make it part of your monthly maintenance, because every month, on average, tyres lose around 1 pound per square inch (psi) of tire pressure. PSI refers to the minimum amount of air pressure required to sustain a full load of your engine.

For more info: Right tire pressure and how to maintain it?

Changing Air filter

If the air filter of your motorcycle, which keeps debris from your engine, is obstructed and dirty, the output of your bike will suffer. You may not be able to tackle car repair tasks, such as changing the oil or removing spark plugs, but it is a simple job that you can do to change the engine air filter of your vehicle. The air filter is easily accessible sometimes, but you will have to remove the gas tank and other components to get to it. When you get into the airbox, take the air filter out and replace it. Reinstall everything you've removed.

For more info: How to clean air filter in a motorcycle?

Changing drain oil

To begin with, for about five minutes, you'll want to ride a bike just to warm it up. This reduces the oil's viscosity, making it easier to drain. Remove the drain plug as well as the oil fill plug, letting the oil escape into a drain pan, with the engine off and the bike standing upright. Take out the oil filter as well. To protect against dripping, attempt to cover the engine and/or exhaust portion with aluminum foil. Once the oil is drained, install a new oil filter, return any parts that you have removed, and refill using a funnel and the correct amount and form of motorcycle oil, as stated in the owner's manual. Substitute the cap for the oil fill. At a bike shop or municipal plant, recycle the oil used.
