"SK Hynix Inc is nearing a long-term agreement to supply automotive memory chips to German auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH"
SK Hynix Inc, the world's second-largest memory chip maker, is nearing a long-term agreement to supply automotive memory chips to German auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH.
According to Maeil Business Newspaper, citing unnamed industry sources, the two companies are directly engaged in talks for SK Hynix to supply Bosch with auto memory chips for the next ten years or more. The financial details were not mentioned in the reports.
SK Hynix did not respond to a request for comment. Bosch did not respond immediately.
According to a source with knowledge of the matter who declined to be identified because the agreements are confidential, the South Korean company has memory chip supply partnerships with auto suppliers Continental and Hyundai Mobis.
Companies around the world are struggling to secure chip inventory as a result of an unprecedented shortage of semiconductors, forcing governments to enact policies to support local chip industries.
