The Japanese company Honda declared its electrification plan for its two-wheelers in International market.
The company plans to launch 10 new electric two-wheeler models, mostly scooters, in addition to off-road, and mid-and large-size sports bikes by 2025.
The upcoming electric motorcycles of Honda is classified into three categories according to their top speed. They are:
- Electric Bicycles (EBs, 25km/h or lower)
- Electric Mopeds (Ems, 25-50km/h)
- Electric Vehicles (EVs, 50km/h or higher)
The only solution for issues related to EV range, charging time and price is the standardization of battery-swapping system, according to the company.
The company plans to launch two commuter electric models between 2024 and 2025 for Asian, European, and Japanese markets.
The five compact EM and EB models will be introduced in these regions, including China.
The major commuter electric models are likely to be powered by solid-state patterns.
Except commuter bikes, Honda will develop electrified mid- and large-size sports bikes on a dedicated FUN EV platform.
Three large-size sports bike models in the US, Europe and Japan by the company between 2024 and 2025.
Honda will also introduce an EV model for kids, most likely an electric dirt bikes.
Honda aims to reduce Co2 emissions from its ICE-powered models and pursue the electrification of its products.
The company will introduce motorcycles compactible with mixture of gasoline-ethanol (flex-fuel) in India, starting from 2023.
