NTA (Nepal Telecommunications Authority) Confirmed MDMS Will Go Live Next Month Throughout Nepal

15th August 2022
"NTA and MPIA held the ‘MDMS BYLAWS 2075 Workshop’ at Hotel Soaltee Kathmandu on Shrawan 26, 2079."

NTA (Nepal Telecommunications Authority) and MPIA (Mobile phone Imports Association) held the ‘MDMS BYLAWS 2075 Workshop’ at Hotel Soaltee Kathmandu on Shrawan 26, 2079 with the presence of NTA, MPIA, NMDA, and other concerned authorities.

NTA and MPIA have made the joint decision that MDMS (Mobile Device Management System) will start from 30th Bhadra 2079 to control the unauthorized entry of Mobile phones in Nepal illegally.

MDMS (Mobile Device Management system) describes a higher-level system that can be used for the management and operation of mobile devices such as PCs, tablet PCs, cell phones, POS systems, and other devices.

It's a software application that helps device fleet operators to manage and enforce rules or policies on different types of devices.

With recent technological advancements, the mobile phone has been a subject of necessity rather than a luxury. President of (The mobile phone Imports Association) Mr. Deepak Kumar Malhotra and various delegates have criticized the Government for stopping importing cellular devices as they have become part of day-to-day life.

Malhotra clarified government decided to do so to increase revenue thus implementing MDMS will decrease the amount of black trafficking which has negative impacts on collecting revenues for the government. Nepal is losing billions of dollars due to the black trafficking market.

In the opening ceremony, Malhotra also clarified illegal trafficking of phones and re-furtive phones has adversely affected mobile business and caused employment problems. Thus, the meeting decided to implement MDMS.

Vice President of MPIA (Mobile Phone Imports Association) Sanjay Agrawal addressed that MDMS will officially start on Sep 15, 2022, and it will be fully implemented within two to three months.

The old handsets will get a two to three months period for registration. The handsets imported unofficially without paying the government tax thereafter will not be activated from September 15.

Nepal Telecommunication Authority has fully guaranteed the implementation therefore there is no room for doubt.

MDMS is not only limited to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority and all the mobile operators, but because it is also related to national security, we all have equal responsibility for making this successful.

Agrawal made it clear that this plan is a very comprehensive plan and it will greatly contribute to the revenue growth of the Ministry of Finance. He made it clear that we all should move forward together to make this plan work.

Director of NTA Surendra Lal Hada clarified the importance, features, and technical aspects of MDMS and gave important information about its practical implementation and another Director of NTA Revati Ram Panta analyzed the MDMS BY-LAWS 2075 and explained its importance and clarified its potential.

Thus, to stop the same case MDMS should be implemented. Various delegates from NTC, NCELL, Smart cell, MPIA, NMDA/ FNDBA expressed their opinions and the importance of implementing MDMS in Nepal.

Chief Guest Mr. Baikuntha Aryal said MDMS should be implemented while remaining within the boundary of the Nepali people and the Nepali constitution.

At the end of the program Chairperson of NTA (Nepal Telecommunication Authority), Mr. Purshotam Khanal expressed his gratitude to all the delegates and made a commitment that MDMS (Mobile Device Management system) should be enforced from 30th Bhadra 2079 (15th September 2022).

Electric Vehicles | Cars | Bikes: Advantages and Disadvantages

30th December 2019
"The government is motivating the customers to buy electric vehicles through tax waivers for EVs."

Not long ago, Nepal only imported vehicles that were generated and operated through fossil fuels. The reasons were simple, lack of enough electricity and public trust in electric vehicles. However, considering the fact that Nepal is one of the richest sources of water and reduction of power cuts, Nepal is now being seen as the potential country for EVs.

Maaz Ashraf, the marketing and communications manager from NIU electric scooter quotes, “This is the third year for NIU electric scooter in Nepal. The first year was disappointing as the people didn’t get the idea of an electric vehicle, and its price range. The second-year was comparatively better and the third year has been overwhelming. The perspective of people towards EVs is changing.”

The government is motivating the customers to buy electric vehicles through tax waivers for EVs. Also, the reduction of load shedding and awareness of people about the difference in cost when switching from a petrol vehicle to an electric vehicle is a supporting factor. More?

Did you visit the NADA Auto Show 2019?

We could observe that there were only a few fuel generated vehicles launched. The rest of all was electric. Brands like Hyundai, KIA, Peugeot launched their EVs recently and they are undeniably hitting the market with a good response. New and local brands like BYD, TheeGo, Genius, Miyama were also getting a very good response from the public. Recently, Yatri introduced Project Zero, YATRI bike which is getting launched in January 2020, has been the talk of the nation. People are more inclined towards the EVs than the fuel generated vehicles.

Is an electric vehicle the future?

Electric Vehicles Advantages and Disadvantages

When we asked this question to the visitors of NADA and other general people and enthusiasts, we got mixed opinions. Some said that electric vehicles are indeed the future because it has advantages of low cost, easy maintenance and eco-friendly. However, some opposed stating that motor vehicles are supposed to be roaring through the streets and no electric vehicle can give such an experience. One visitor we interviewed in NADA said that the electric bike is no less than a cycle, it definitely doesn’t give the vibes of a motorbike at all.

Electric vehicle disadvantages:

Lithium-Ion, the main component of the EV’s battery, being a limited resource, cannot fully replace all the vehicles. Similarly, in the context of Nepal, we don’t have any policy regarding the disposal of the used battery (as of now). As quoted by Santosh Nyaupane, “The liquid coming out of the battery is a hazardous chemical that degrades the environment. If the liquid is disposed at a particular place, it becomes deteriorated and we cannot expect anything to grow from the soil for at least a decade.”

Battery used in electric vehicles

The pioneers of electric vehicles are trying to come up with ideas and inventions for the invention of full proof eco-friendly vehicles. The government is supporting the initiative by providing low-interest rates on loans for installing electric charging sockets. Companies like Hyundai are already exploring and testing hydrogen-powered vehicles. The future of the automobile is still getting advanced. We will keep on informing you of all those innovations. Stay tuned with us.

Must know tips to maintain your car touch screen

19th December 2021
"If your car has a touchscreen, you have probably encountered some issues with the screen getting smudged and smeared."

If your car has a touchscreen, you have probably encountered some issues with the screen getting smudged and smeared. While you could just leave it that way to get worse and harder to look at, you could also maintain it yourself.

Here we have listed some tips to maintain your car touchscreen:

Don't press with too much pressure

When using your car’s infotainment system, make sure that you don’t too much pressure when pressing the options presented.

A light and gentle tap should be enough. The screens are responsive, so there’s no need to be using your fingernail and pressing heavily with your fingers.

Using microfiber to clean it

The best way to clean your screen is by using microfiber. Microfiber cloth is an essential part of cleaning a car, so make sure you have a handful.

Clean microfiber is soft enough not to scratch the screen, so use it instead of other cloth types.

Don’t start wiping right away; blow the dust off the touchscreen first so you don’t drag it across the screen.

Clean while it is off

Before cleaning your touchscreen device, turn it off and disconnect it from the wall outlet.

If your touchscreen device is turned on when you clean it, it could sustain permanent damage. Alternatively, it could even shock you.

Use non-alcohol based cleaners

Although it may sound like an effective cleaning solution, rubbing alcohol — as well as other harsh cleaning chemicals — shouldn’t be used on touchscreen devices.

The problem with rubbing alcohol and other harsh cleaning chemicals is they strip away the coating of touchscreen devices.

Never use paper towels or facial tissues

It may be convenient, but never use paper towels or even facial tissues to wipe clean the screens of your infotainment system.

These materials can be pretty aggressive and can cause some light to serious scratching.

It also doesn’t clean the surface effectively and will be left with more lint than ever.
