The Curtain Falls: Hyundai Sonata 2020

1st April 2019
"Sporty than ever!"

Looks like a four-door-coupe sporty sedan, the new 2020 Hyundai Sonata has its curtains dropped. Hyundai’s sensuous sportiness design concept is encompassed in the eighth-gen Sonata. The Sonata 2020 is a fully transformed automobile following the release of the seventh-generation Sonata in 2014.

Hyundai’s pioneering sense of sportiness can be seen in the new Hyundai Sonata 2020 which looks sportier than its predecessor with an extension of the width by 25 mm and lower height of 30 mm. The whole length of the car is 45 mm and the wheelbase is increased by 35 mm.

The source of inspiration for the 2020 Hyundai Sonata is the Le Fil Rouge, which debuted in 2018 Geneva International Motor Show and won several awards since then. The car has a silhouette of a coupe. The sloping roofline and the deck lid makes it look well-adjusted, and the signature chrome accent of the company makes it go all the way into the hood, and makes it look even more sleek. The Sonata 2020 has LED lighting built in making it look livelier.

The side sections of the Sonata are highlighted by the effortless structural design exposed through Hyundai’s HDC-2 concept car at the Busan Motor Show in June last year and it links both of the chromic lines flawlessly connecting the windows and daytime running lights. It makes Sonata 2020 look athletic and charming. With this, the all new Sonata 2020 has a long hood with a low position and a sleek roofline. The width of the car looks wider with the ultra-wide taillights.

The interior has the same light structural design with the ambient mood lamp lighting dashboard and doors. The neat and sleek design is carried through the central gauge cluster display. The all-new 2020 Hyundai Sonata designers merged the two displays together using a unique S curve. The displays are flawless and have capacitive touch buttons. The satin chrome accent on the steering wheel, which looks like a pilot’s cockpit, and shift-by-wire transmission controls to free up the space.

The new 2020 Hyundai Sonata will be powered by a sporty 180 hp Smart Stream G 1.6 T-GDi gas engine which can be indicated with an eight-speed automatic transmission to further enhance the cars even and efficient throttle.
