"Honor Play 5 is a thin-and-light 5G phone with some obvious compromises"
Honor has finally announced the Play 5 in its home market of China, following months of leaks and rumors. Honor is marketing it as a "smartphone for everyone" with its thin and light 5G device. Let's take a look at the Honor Play 5 specifications, features, expected price, and availability in Nepal.
Overview of Honor Play 5:
Display and Design
The Honor Play 5 has a 6.53-inch FHD+ OLED display. It has a DCI-P3 wide color gamut and is HDR10 compatible. This screen is low light certified by TÜV Rheinland and even supports DC dimming. The fingerprint scanner is located beneath the display.
Honor, on the other hand, has chosen a teardrop notch for the selfie camera at a time when other devices in this price range now feature a sleek punch-hole cutout. On the official renders, the bezels and chin appear to be minimal.
To the left of the camera module in the back is a square-shaped camera module. The phone has a thickness of 7.46mm and weighs only 179 grams. The Honor Play 5 comes in three colors: Icelandic Illusion, Titanium Silver, and Magic Mid Night Black.
Performance
The Dimensity 800U chipset from MediaTek is in charge of the hardware. It's a 5G chipset that was unveiled last year.
It's a 5G chipset that was unveiled last year. It is built on TSMC's 7nm process and includes Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores in a 2+6 cluster.
The Mali G57 GPU is in charge of graphics rendering. The Honor Play 5 has 8GB of RAM and can be paired with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
Camera
The quad-camera setup on the back is led by a 64MP sensor. The primary camera has an f/1.9 aperture and can record 4K videos. It has an 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide sensor as well as two additional 2MP sensors for macro and portrait shots. A 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter is housed inside the aforementioned notch on the front.
The Honor Play 5 has a 3,800mAh battery and supports 66W fast charging. The battery capacity is reduced from the Honor Play 4's 4300mAh cell. However, this compromise aids in keeping the device thin and light. Because of the smaller battery and faster charging speed, the phone can charge from 0 to 100% in just 35 minutes.
Because there is no 3.5mm headphone jack, you will need to use a Type-C to 3.5mm audio connector. Regrettably, it is not included in the box.
