Apple Music Adds Two Radio Streams

18th August 2020
"Now the Beat 1 station is renamed as Apple Music 1."

Apple Inc. added two new online radio channels to its streaming music service and renamed the flagship station Apple Music 1, shedding the Beats brand that had been in place since the debut in 2015.

One of the new stations features hits from the 1980s, 90s and 2000s, and the other plays popular country music. Apple Music 1 will continue to feature modern pop, Latin music and DJ hosts.

Apple Music competes with Spotify Technology SA in music streaming. Spotify has sought to add subscribers by amping up its podcast offerings, with exclusives from Michelle Obama and Joe Rogan. For Apple, subscriptions are a key part of its strategy to add new sources of revenue. The technology giant is expected to release a series of bundles, currently known internally as Apple One, as early as October to spur more interest.

Apple Watch 6 could detect mental health issues and bring sleep tracking feature

3rd May 2020
"The new Apple Watch will offer mental health features to help out millions around the globe."

The news reports are based on an exchange between Twitter user Nikias Molina and Jon Prosser, which involved the latter confirming that Apple Watch 6 will indeed come with a feature to keep a track of a user's mental health.

The next Apple Watch -- widely tipped to be called the Apple Watch 6 is expected to launch before the end of this year alongside the iPhone 12 range of iPhones. Interestingly, it is being reported that the new Apple Watch will offer mental health features to help out millions around the globe.

The original tweet by Molina detailed how the Apple Watch Series 6 will bring an S6 chip and a longer battery life while also offering sleep tracking and Pulse Oximeter features. The latter according to Molina says, is for "mental health abnormalities detection". This new feature is said to compliment the heart rate monitoring capabilities already existing on Apple smartwatches that make them capable of identifying potential symptoms of anxiety in wearers.

According to XDA Developers' Max Weinbach, who has previously shared some information about the feature on Twitter, preliminary reports suggest that the Apple Watch 6 with this new feature may detect panic attacks and when a user is under stress. It is then supposed to learn over time what symptoms occur before and during the panic attack.

The company could also shift to a faster wireless Qi-related charging standard to improve the Apple Watch 6 and help it stand out as a better offering than competing smartwatches.

Google Maps update includes more detailed colorful images

18th August 2020
"Google maps to be more distinguished and detailed to help differentiate streets, crosswalk, pathways, etc."

In addition to helping you find your way, the latest Google Maps update will help you know more details about any given area at a glance. Starting this week, Google will shade maps with colors based on satellite imagery so you can easily tell the difference between forests and beaches. The update will be available worldwide and will cover a variety of natural and manmade features.

While the refined color palette is meant to help you understand regional features, a future update will offer more detail on a much smaller scale. Google says it will roll out more granular info on streets so you can see their exact size at scale in addition to the locations of sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian islands.

The more detailed street images will start rolling out in London, New York and San Francisco in the coming months.

Google announced both changes in a blog post on Tuesday, but didn't offer a timeline on a broader rollout of the more granular view.

The color mapping update will supposedly not just be for large landscape features either. Google will use computer imagery to show more coloration on areas such as cities, suburbs and rural towns.
