More trouble to follow Huawei. After the ban of doing business with US based companies, other controversy follow Huawei. From the lastest report of The Washington Post, Huawei has alleged ties with North Korea for over the past eight years. Reportedly Huawei helped North Korea to develop their network and allegedly may have integrated US based technology in that network. This could be the violation of International Export Laws as dealing with North Korea is forbidden.
According to the report, Huawei partnered with a Chinese state-owned firm, Panda International Information Technology Co. Ltd., in different projects to help build and maintain the network infrastructure of North Korea. Whistle Blowing was done by a former employee of Huawei who asked The Post to keep his identity anonymous. He also provided the evidence which includes past work orders, contracts and detailed spreadsheets which were taken from a database that charts the company’s telecom operations worldwide. Along with that, Two other sets of documents were shared by other people to The Post with the desire of those documents made public.
In a statement, Huawei said it “has no business presence” in North Korea. The Commerce Department of U.S., which also declined to comment, has investigated alleged links between Huawei and North Korea since 2016 but has never been able to link the two.
If this allegation is proved to be true, this will likely be the end of somewhat improved working relationship between U.S. and Huawei. For those who are not updated to the news, U.S had listed Huawei in their entity list which caused the U.S based companies to sever their ties with Huawei.
