Things you should do after buying a used car

"There is a huge market for used cars. Many people buy them as their first car."

There is a huge market for used cars. Many people buy them as their first car. It is also a great way to own those expensive and exclusive models at an affordable price.

However, if you are wondering what to do when you buy a used car, here are some of the things that might be helpful for you:

Check For Minor Issues and Fix Them

Where there are minor issues on the car, you can quickly fix them then ignore them.

Check if the lights are in good condition, also inspect if the body panels are lined up. Are the doors damaged? Are the windshield wipers working or not?

It is important to check if the tires are worn. Fixing the minor issues will save you time and money when fixing major issues in the future.

Transfer the Title

The first thing you need to do is secure a clean title to the vehicle. The title of the vehicle serves as the official record of ownership for a vehicle.

Title transfer is especially important if you bought your car from a private seller. You’ll want to make sure that there are no liens listed on the back of the title document.

If there are, make sure the seller can provide official statements from the banks and other lien holders that all the prior loans on the vehicle have been paid off.

Get your vehicle insured

You never want to drive around without insurance, even if it is just around the block.

It’s a good idea to have all of your insurance figured out before you drive off the lot.

Many times dealerships will not allow you to drive off the lot without first showing proof of insurance.

By choosing an insurance plan early, you will also know how much it will cost, which can help you budget all of your auto expenses.

Insurance should be budgeted into the overall cost of legally maintaining your vehicle.

Contact a Trusted Mechanic

After purchasing a used car, ensure you get in touch with a mechanic that will do an extensive inspection and preventative maintenance.

The mechanic will recommend the parts that need a replacement for your safety before you start to drive.

The mechanic may need to change the air filters, car fluids and even do a wheel alignment.

Clean it up

When people make a list of things about what to do after buying a used car, they don’t think about cleaning.

You don’t want to use a car covered in someone else’s dirt, filth, and sweat. It is advisable to clean the exterior and the interior of the car to remove dirt, dust, and sweat.

Note that, cleaning the interior of the car is important for maintenance and value while cleaning the exterior is for the appearance and value of the car.

Car detailing tips and tricks

10th January 2022
"Learning how to detail your car to a professional standard isn’t just a matter of vanity, it’s a smart way to maintain your car’s value"

Learning how to detail your car to a professional standard isn’t just a matter of vanity, it’s a smart way to maintain your car’s value, and make sure you get the best possible price when it comes to selling it.

So here is some of the car detailing tips and tricks that might be helpful for you:

Tire and wheel cleaning

Before washing your car you should clean the wheels and tires. Because they are likely to be the dirtiest part of your car.

Start with a simple all-purpose or rubber cleaner on the tires.

Make sure it’s meant for wheels as you don’t want to use a harsh cleaner that will ruin the finish of your wheels.

Scrub the tires down after letting the product soak in and rinse. As far as wheels are concerned many products will remove iron and brake dust deposits safely.

Sanitize Seat Belts

You might not give your seat belt much thought, at least not until you drip ketchup or split some drinks on it.

But these necessary restraints get grimy fast and could hide a bunch of bacteria.

To clean seat belts, extend them as far as possible, and then clip them in place. Scrub with an all-purpose cleaner, using a small brush.

Toothbrushes are great for tackling small stains. Lastly, wipe with a microfiber cloth and leave the seat belts extended until completely dry.

Deep Clean Your Seats

Whether you have a family car filled with muddy footprints and food wrappers or use your car for the work commute, it's wise to regularly deep clean your car's seats.

By deep cleaning the car seats, leather, or cloth, you will reduce unwanted odors and give your car a fresh clean feel.

There's nothing worse than a buildup of mold and stains on your seat covers, they take a lot more hard work to get rid of if you leave them a long time.

If you prevent them or maintain the interior of your car more frequently there is a higher chance of stains not sticking around.

Use a Towel to Dry the Paintwork

If you let your car air dry after you’ve cleaned it, watermarks will develop on the surface — and these are often more difficult to remove than dirt and road dust.

To dry your car effectively, use a soft microfiber towel or chamois to carefully remove any water droplets from the paintwork.

Using a long, figure of 8 actions, start at the top of the car and work down each panel to remove excess water and leave the paintwork looking clean and clear.

Dry glass surfaces in two directions

When cleaning and drying your car’s windows, you’ll almost certainly come across an annoying streak on either the outside or the inside of the glass.

Get in the habit of drying the exterior glass in one direction and the interior in another (horizontal and vertical for instance).

By making the effort to dry the glass this way, you’ll know whether the streak is on the outside or inside of the car by the direction it’s facing — so you can deal with the problem quickly without causing any more streaks and blemishes.

Reasons why you should own a car

12th January 2022
"Owning a car is no longer a luxurious investment, but it is necessary for our everyday life."

Owning a car these days has become a necessity. It is no longer a luxurious investment to own, but it is necessary for our everyday life.  However, there are so many great reasons to own a car.

Here are some of the reasons why you should own a car:

Convenience

With your car, you’ll enjoy the convenience of being able to travel anywhere you want, any time you want.

You’ll enjoy being able to have your independence and not having to rely on public transit, ride-share systems, or carpools.

With your car, you’re in charge of when you leave, arrive, and wherever you go.

Health and Emergencies

The safest way to ensure your health in the pandemic or any other time is by owning a private car.

Taking public transportation can put you more at risk of infection or can delay.

You may meet potential carriers when you take buses and other forms of public transport. If you own a car, you can take control of who gets in and out of your car.

You can avoid exposure and lower any medical expenses. One of the other benefits of a car is easy to access during emergencies.

Saves Time

Indeed, it saves you a lot of time rather than spending a few hours lining or waiting for the next bus at the bus stop.

If you run a hectic life, getting a car will help you get good use of your time.

You can go out of the house anytime you want and only leave the place you’ve been into at the time you wish.

Can Take Road Trips

One of the best parts of owning a car is that now you can take your road trips.

You may have taken some with your family or friends, but now you don’t have to rely on them to go.

You can also decide when and where you want to go all on your own. Road trips will also save you a lot more money if you have a family.

Instead of playing for several expensive plane tickets, now you can just load everyone up into your brand new car and start driving.

Easy Shopping

With a personal car, it is always easy and convenient to shop.

Owning a car gives you some control since you can leave for shopping and get back once you are done.

You no longer need to be tied by public transport schedules.

Having your car gives you the liberty to manage your own time, which makes you freer to attend to other personal matters.
