Reasons to keep your car shiny and clean

11th January 2022
"Owning a car includes a lot of responsibilities such as keeping it free of dirt and grime from top to bottom."

Owning a car includes a lot of responsibilities such as keeping it free of dirt and grime from top to bottom. However, with a few basic rules in place, keeping your car looking slick and clean can become less of a hassle and easier with time.

Here are simple reasons why you should keep your car shiny and clean:

Cleaning your car makes it safer

Dirty cars are less visible and have less visibility. Dirt covering your headlights can make your car harder to spot on the roads.

You also need to ensure all of your windows are clean enough to see out of properly.

If having a clean car can help prevent an accident it makes cleaning seems less of a chore when you think of the alternative.

Cleaning Your Car Can Enhance Its Resale Value

Regularly cleaning your vehicle can tremendously boost its resale value.

Regular cleaning usually helps preserve the paint job on your car which is a big determinant in calculating the resale value.

Additionally, by regularly cleaning the interior of your car, you can maintain it in mint condition which will no doubt increase its resale value.

As a car owner, you should always take steps to ensure that your car remains clean and fresh.

This can be through giving it a regular wash personally or taking it to the car wash.

Cleaning your car makes it more fuel-efficient

Accumulative dirt can weigh your car down and make it less aerodynamic.

Especially if you’ve been driving off-road, or your vehicle is particularly dirty, you’ll want to put in the elbow grease to get that dirt off.

It’s been proven that the same car driven clean vs dirty was 10% more fuel-efficient.

Avoid Costly Tire Repairs & Replacements

Tires and wheels are usually the parts of a vehicle that can collect mud, animal poop, tar, and other harmful particles.

If you don’t clean it from time to time, your wheels will get damaged easily. And we all know that wheels cost a lot.

Why spend so much when you can avoid a tire replacement through proper wheel detailing.

Keep Your Carpets in Good Condition

Carpets are important parts of a car. Even though we rarely notice it, carpets make car rides more comfortable and feel luxurious.

However, carpets can be one of those areas that collect a lot of dirt since this is where your shoes step on.

Carpet fibers can get damaged when they aren’t cleaned for a long period.

Hence, cleaning your car’s carpet help ensure that it stays in good condition.

Best way to make your car last longer

13th December 2021
"Drivers, who know how to properly treat their vehicle with regular upkeep and maintenance, as well as proper driving techniques, make your car last longer"

Drivers, who know how to properly treat their vehicle with regular upkeep and maintenance, as well as proper driving technique, get far more kilometers out of their purchase than those who don’t.

Here are some tips to help you keep your used car on the road longer and save money at the same time:

Maintain your car’s battery

If you don’t use your car for long periods, the battery will degrade and go flat.

Consider using a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up if your car is left in a garage for an extended period or a battery conditioner if it appears to hold less charge than usual.

If your battery does go flat, having to jump-start a car puts additional strain on the battery and may damage the engine management system and other delicate electronics: a double-whammy of increased wear.

Drive smoothly

Your driving techniques have a huge impact on how long your car lasts.

Driving your car smoothly means planning your stops to avoid slamming on your brakes.

It also means staying alert of your surroundings and avoiding potholes, bumps, and other mishaps on the road.

Driving smoothly will minimize wear on your vehicle, save fuel, increase the longevity of your car, and most importantly, keep you safe.

Check your tires

Tires are arguably your car’s most important safety feature and it’s no exaggeration to say that checking them regularly – about once a week – could save your life.

Under-inflated tires will also increase fuel consumption, so keep them topped up to the recommended pressures listed in your car’s handbook to save money.

Change filters regularly

Your car’s oil filter and air filter become clogged over time, so it’s important to renew them regularly.

They should be replaced as part of scheduled car servicing, but both are relatively simple jobs – particularly an air filter swap – so you might want to give it a try yourself and save money in the process.

You can often prolong the life of the air filter by washing it, too.

Service schedule

Regular servicing is vital to keep your car in tip-top condition and prolong its life.

Service intervals are based on time or miles are driven – once a year or every 10,000 miles, for example.

Check the handbook to find out when your car is due to a service and what work is required.

A minor service includes changing the oil and oil filter and replacing other fluids if necessary.

Depending on the car and mileage, a major service may also cover the replacement of the air filter, spark plugs, and cambelt.

Car detailing tips and tricks

10th January 2022
"Learning how to detail your car to a professional standard isn’t just a matter of vanity, it’s a smart way to maintain your car’s value"

Learning how to detail your car to a professional standard isn’t just a matter of vanity, it’s a smart way to maintain your car’s value, and make sure you get the best possible price when it comes to selling it.

So here is some of the car detailing tips and tricks that might be helpful for you:

Tire and wheel cleaning

Before washing your car you should clean the wheels and tires. Because they are likely to be the dirtiest part of your car.

Start with a simple all-purpose or rubber cleaner on the tires.

Make sure it’s meant for wheels as you don’t want to use a harsh cleaner that will ruin the finish of your wheels.

Scrub the tires down after letting the product soak in and rinse. As far as wheels are concerned many products will remove iron and brake dust deposits safely.

Sanitize Seat Belts

You might not give your seat belt much thought, at least not until you drip ketchup or split some drinks on it.

But these necessary restraints get grimy fast and could hide a bunch of bacteria.

To clean seat belts, extend them as far as possible, and then clip them in place. Scrub with an all-purpose cleaner, using a small brush.

Toothbrushes are great for tackling small stains. Lastly, wipe with a microfiber cloth and leave the seat belts extended until completely dry.

Deep Clean Your Seats

Whether you have a family car filled with muddy footprints and food wrappers or use your car for the work commute, it's wise to regularly deep clean your car's seats.

By deep cleaning the car seats, leather, or cloth, you will reduce unwanted odors and give your car a fresh clean feel.

There's nothing worse than a buildup of mold and stains on your seat covers, they take a lot more hard work to get rid of if you leave them a long time.

If you prevent them or maintain the interior of your car more frequently there is a higher chance of stains not sticking around.

Use a Towel to Dry the Paintwork

If you let your car air dry after you’ve cleaned it, watermarks will develop on the surface — and these are often more difficult to remove than dirt and road dust.

To dry your car effectively, use a soft microfiber towel or chamois to carefully remove any water droplets from the paintwork.

Using a long, figure of 8 actions, start at the top of the car and work down each panel to remove excess water and leave the paintwork looking clean and clear.

Dry glass surfaces in two directions

When cleaning and drying your car’s windows, you’ll almost certainly come across an annoying streak on either the outside or the inside of the glass.

Get in the habit of drying the exterior glass in one direction and the interior in another (horizontal and vertical for instance).

By making the effort to dry the glass this way, you’ll know whether the streak is on the outside or inside of the car by the direction it’s facing — so you can deal with the problem quickly without causing any more streaks and blemishes.
