Ford has filed registered trademarks for electrified versions of its Maverick and Ranger pickup vehicles.
Surprisingly, the manufacturer has registered many trademarks in Europe and the United States. Ford has applied to trademark the names "Maverick Lightning" and "Ranger Lightning" in Europe, although they are known as "Maverick Thunder" and "Ranger Thunder" in the United States.
According to Motortrend, a new Ranger Lightning might employ many carryover parts from the F-150 Lightning and will likely be no smaller than the planned combustion-powered 2023 Ford Ranger.
The Ranger Lighting might possibly be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants.
The new Ford Ranger's base is compatible with all types of electrified powertrains, from mild hybrid to completely electric.
As the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning officially entered production, Ford CEO Jim Farley hinted that the Ford Ranger EV might be on the way.
