Tips for Saving Smartphones Battery

2nd February 2022
"The majority of consumers simply want a phone that will not die at the end of the day."

The majority of consumers simply want a phone that will not die at the end of the day.

While we've come to rely on smartphones for much of our everyday lives, we still run apps, services, and systems that drain our batteries unnecessarily.

Here are a few strategies to keep your phone powered up all day.

Turn on power-saving mode

When your battery's charge falls below 15%, you'll need to take drastic measures. Power-saving mode is a clever function that reduces screen brightness, reduces screen resolution, limits CPU speed, and disables background network usage.

You can adjust each of these options and get an estimate of how much more battery life you'll get as a result.

Turn off location services

Due to the number of apps that bounce it, as well as the chip itself, your smartphone's GPS receiver is one of its greatest power users.

You can turn off GPS completely, but you'll lose a lot of useful features. Alternatively, you may figure out which apps are tapping Location and disable the ones that aren't needed.

Turn off data roaming

The 4G and ultra-fast 5G modems, like GPS, can deplete your battery, especially if your mobile coverage is poor.

You can temporarily disable data roaming if you're traveling in a remote or mountainous area where battery life is more vital than connectivity.

Upgrade

If you're finding these power-saving tips too time-consuming to adopt, it might be time to upgrade to a smartphone with all-day battery life.

Reduce your screen brightness

This can help you get a lot more battery life out of your gadget, especially if it has a larger and clearer screen (that is, with more pixels).

The only time you'll likely need your phone to be at full brightness is when you're outside during the day when the sun is at its brightest. You can dim your phone's brightness to 75 percent or less at other times.

Use Airplane mode

Airplane mode will save you some energy, especially if you're on a plane or in an area where there's no coverage because otherwise the phone will keep looking for connections and waste power.

If you're driving and don't have a Bluetooth connection through your car's infotainment system, now is a good moment to put your phone in Airplane mode.

Turn off Bluetooth as well if you don't need it.
