Driving a car for the first time is really exciting as well as scary. In fact, whether you're a learner or an expert driver, it is very important for all to be really careful when behind the steering wheel. Here are a few tips for learners:

Be Comfortable:

The first and foremost thing you need to do before driving your car is to be comfortable and familiar with your car.

Comfortable

Get familiar with the basics of the car in theory before you start driving it. Also, make sure you can see through all the mirrors and your seat is adjusted according to your height.

Make sure you have your license and documents:

According to the law, a driver cannot be on the road if he/she doesn’t have a license with them. A Police Officer can ask to see your license at any time and if you do not produce it immediately, you will be fined.

Documents

Moreover, there will be many other circumstances you will be facing without a license.

Safety first:

Always put up your seatbelt when you enter your car. Also while driving, drivers should take care of parking the cars at the roadside and then deal with the matter at hand.

Seatbelt

And in case of serious accidents where cars cannot be moved, the drivers should turn the parking lights on and put other warning symbols until help arrives to void the accidents and to be safe.

Stay on familiar roads:

When you drive for the first time, it is recommended you drive around your surroundings and neighborhood roads you are very similar with so that it will be comfortable for you and you can enhance your confidence in driving in the coming days.

Rid yourself of distraction:

Driving with distraction is not a good idea, neither for beginners nor for the experts.

Distractions

It’s better to turn off the audio/radio, pull up the windows, and always put away the cell phone if you are very new to driving. Remember, a little carelessness might lead to a big accident.

Some people say that their business has been adversely affected, while some state that it is in loss, however, they would revive from it soon.

Interview with Ashoke Gurung, Overdrive Car Accessories

 Ashoke Gurung, Overdrive Car Accessories

What is the post-COVID situation of Car Accessories Business in Nepal?

It has been 18 years since I am in this field. It was smooth and okay-ish until the COVID-19 and nationwide Lockdown hit the market hard. Now at this point of time, people are concerned about their health and survival more than any other thing. Car and car accessories are a luxury for the people residing in a country like Nepal. This lockdown, people are more into buying necessary items like rice, vegetables, and lentils and car accessories simply don’t fall in that category. Plus, the lockdown has forced us to get locked up in our homes and we can’t come to our shops and make even a handful of dealings. Thus, for small businesses like us, it is really difficult at this point of time.

How are you planning to run the business after the lockdown is over and what are the safety protocols?

We are planning to run the business by properly sanitizing our shop and all the equipment in the shop. We will maintain social distancing and ask all the employees to properly maintain the safety protocols by using masks, sanitizers, and wash hands before and after stepping outside the shop. We will do every possible step towards helping the nation not spread the CoronaVirus.

Stay tuned for more interviews.
