Coca-Cola supports shop owners to bounce back after the COVID lockdown

As lockdown restrictions begin to ease, Coca-Cola in Nepal has announced plansto support grocery and shop owners to bounce back from the pandemic.

 

This also includes initiatives to protect the safety of shop owners. The objective behind the initiative is to assist the Food and Beverage sector to get back on their feet, recover and thrive in the post-Covid era.

In an attempt to revive businesses of grocery stores, Coca-Cola has launched a quick and convenient ordering service through WhatsApp to aid automation of ordering taking process and connecting Retailers and Distributors. With this, retailers will be able to directly place orders with distributors through WhatsApp.

This concept will allow business to proceed and have better communication and avoid the risk of physical contact. The platform will be made possible on other communication applications like Facebook Messenger and Viber as well.

AdarshAvasthi, Country Director, Coca-Cola in Nepal shared,“The past year has been tough for small businesses. This initiative is a small step to support retailers to recover their business faster by encouraging their customers to buy from nearby outlets in a safe manner and with multiple digital options to connect with us and their customers. These initiatives launched in select markets will be scaled up gradually.”

The company will conduct a clean-up of Coca-Cola Coolers and their products to maintain cleanliness as the company is taking extra precautions to ensure products are handled hygienically at every step.

The initiativecovers retail and grocery stores in Kathmandu, Coca-Cola will provide Hygiene and PPE Kits and install Counter Shields in over 1000 stores.

We stand by small businesses and shop owners and look forward to meaningfully contribute to the growth of Nepal”

Since the lockdown, many grocery stores have been offering home delivery of their goods for which Coca-Cola willaid shop ownersby placingpersonalized posters at stores which will provide contact numbers of the stores for easy communication and ordering.

Coca-Cola & Nepal Army joins hands for the Mountain Cleaning Campaign 2021

"A national cleanup program by the Nepal Army along with Coca-Cola to conserve and protect the pristine Himalayan Mountains in Nepal."

 Coca-Cola and Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI), long-term partners have joined hands with the Nepal Army for the Mountain Cleaning Campaign 2021.

This is the second edition of the national cleanup program to keep the Himalayas clean from waste.

The multi-stakeholder program is aimed at protecting the mountains and minimizing the effects of climate change by cleaning up six peaks, which include Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Pumori, and Ama Dablam

Lt Col Deepak Bhandari, Media Coordinator, Mountain Cleaning Campaign 2021, “We are delighted that the Coca-Cola system is supporting the efforts set by the Nepal Army and the Government of Nepal, to clean the glorious mountains of the nation.

Our goal is to extract as much waste as possible from the peaks to restore the glory of the Himalayas.

In addition, we are engaging with communities and partners to increase awareness of keeping the mountains clean, as we know education is key to changing behavior.”

In 2019, Led by the Nepal Army, Coca-Cola along with multi-stakeholders successfully carried out the first mountain cleanup campaign named “Mt. Everest Clean Up 2019”.

Through this campaign, 4,892 Kgs and 5,694 Kgs of waste were collected from Mt. Everest and Everest Base Camp respectively.

This program has established a platform for various government, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies having a common interest in working towards protecting the environment and conserving the natural pride and beauty of Nepal.

Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director of The Coca-Cola Company in Nepal said, “Our global World Without Waste vision is to help collect and recycle a bottle or can for every one we sell by 2030.

We are committed to playing our part in addressing the broader plastic waste challenge and through the Mountain Cleaning Campaign we hope to keep Nepal clean”.

In 2018, Coca-Cola globally announced World Without Waste, with an aim of collecting and recycling the equivalent of all bottles and cans that it produces by 2030.

In support of its global vision, Coca-Cola in Nepal has taken upon many recycling initiatives in order to achieve the “World Without Waste” objectives in the coming decade through its several projects namely Nagarmitra, Recycler Saathi, and Refresh & Recycle.

Coca-Cola pledges to help “Stop the Spread” of Covid-19 in Nepal

As efforts accelerate nationwide to provide relief from the devastation of the second wave of the coronavirus, Coca-Cola in Nepal has committed NPR 2.4 crores to help the nation’s effort in combating the crisis and containing the spread of the pandemic. 

The Coca-Cola system in Nepal will support communities at large through interventions in vaccination drives, providing safety relief materials (e.g., PPEs, mask, gloves sanitizers, etc), and awareness efforts to promote vaccination and sanitation practices, throughout the nation.

To stand in support of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Coca-Cola Company has created a special “Stop the Spread” fund worldwide. 

This fund will be channelized towards facilitating vaccine distribution, COVID safety kits (PPE - masks, gloves, sanitizer), and creating awareness around vaccination and sanitary practices to contain the spread of pandemic.
