Kia has launched the 2021 Sonet in India, with prices ranging from INR 6.75 lakh to INR 13.25 lakh. Sonet has introduced not only the new Kia badge for the 2021 model year but also new trims and an updated feature list.
Kia has added two new variants to the lineup, specifically the HTX trim, which is now available with turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel automatic transmissions. The Kia Sonet has been updated with ten new features, including Rear Door Sunshade Curtains and Voice Command for Sunroof Open & Close.
The HTX trim now comes standard with ESC, Hill-start assists, stability management, brake assist, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Furthermore, the automatic transmission variants get paddle shifters, traction control modes – Sand, Mud, and Wet – and multiple drive modes – Normal, Eco, and Sport (which was previously reserved for the GTX+ trim).
The HTX+ trim has the same features as the HTX trim mentioned above, but it also has the new AI-based voice command system that can be activated by saying "Hello Kia." This feature is now available on the GTX+ trim level as well.
The Sonet is still available with petrol and diesel engines, as before. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit producing 83hp and 115Nm is available, as is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 120hp and 175Nm. The 1.2-litre is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission, whereas the 1.0-litre is available with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 100hp and 240Nm of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The diesel-automatic configuration, on the other hand, generates 115hp and 250Nm (up by 15hp and 10Nm).
