The Prohibition period in Kathmandu valley has been extended yet again till June 28th.

Some of the restrictions has been relieved however, like private vehicles movements and some businesses to be allowed. Previously auto workshops were only allowed to operate till 9 pm now they can run till 7 pm only. Automobile showrooms, spare parts shops can open on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 am to 4 pm. Private four wheelers can run with maximum 4 people and Taxis can run with maximum 3 people. Two wheelers will be allowed to run on odd/even number plate rule.

Nepal Bankers Association (NBA) has informed the public about the limited banking services that would be available during this prohibitory period. 

Through a press release published on Thursday, NBA urges everyone to go for digital banking transactions as much as possible. 

The notice informs about the banking services which are available during the present situation.

This restriction is a precautionary measure to break the chain in spreading the virus. The banks are operating with high precaution in the working shifts as much as possible, however, the regular services are not fully functional at present. 

In this case, the NBA issued this notice to the banking customers to follow the utmost care precautions and opt for digital transactions.

Which banking services will be available?

• Withdrawing money

• Bank Deposit (Only above Rs 50,000)

• Funds Transfer via cheque, IPS, RTGS etc.

• Remittance Payment

• International Trade

The customers can reach out to the information officers of the respective branches through their website for any other kind of queries and issues.

Akhil Nepal Transport Workers Union and a special committee of Capital Taxi, started a free Taxi service recently.

This service is for anyone within the capital who is a long term medical patient and needs to visit the hospital regularly during the prohibition period. For example people with kidney disease and need regular dialysis are the main target of this service according to the duo committee. There are currently more than 36 taxis available for the service according to the committee.

This service is available in all three districts in Bagmati region. Currently the service is available for Teaching Hospital, Maharajganj, soon to be available in other major hospitals in the city. The patients are picked up from their houses and dropped off to the hospital without any charges for the distance of 10 km. However after 10 km charges are applicable for the fuel only based on the distance.
