Kia has launched the 2021 Seltos in India, with prices ranging from INR 9.95 lakh to INR 17.65 lakh. Kia has discontinued the Seltos diesel in HTX+ form for the 2021 model year, but it has added two new variants to the midsize SUV lineup. The 115hp, 1.5-liter petrol engine is now available with an iMT gearbox in the mid-spec HTK+ variant, and a new higher-spec GTX(O) Turbo trim is only available with a manual gearbox.

The Seltos line now includes new features as well. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now available on HTK trims, while remote engine start is available on HTK+ trims. 

The HTK+ with iMT also has beige seat upholstery, a powered sunroof, and an auto climate control system.

ESC, hill-start assist, traction control, and brake assist are now standard on HTX trims. The infotainment system now accepts a broader range of voice commands to control features such as the sunroof, driver's side power window, AC vents, and front defogger. This trim also includes an air purifier as standard equipment.

The HTX+ (now only available with two petrol engines) now has black and brown leatherette seat covers, while the new GTX(O) has beige and black leatherette covers with red stitching. Meanwhile, paddle shifters have been added to the top-tier GTX+ trims.

The Kia Seltos now has five powertrain options thanks to the addition of the new iMT gearbox. The 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is now available with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, or CVT transmission. The 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine retains the previously available 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.

Kia has unveiled the 2020 model of its popular SUV Seltos as soon as the lockdown in India is over. Kia has stated that it has launched 10 new features in the new Kia Seltos.

The company has said it will discontinue the 1.4-liter T-GDI GTK and GTX 7-speed DC variants.

The company has given Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) in the new Seltos. The company has given it in all variants of Seltos. The company has provided UVO Connect Tech in the new kia Seltos.

In addition, voice assist, UVO light control, air purifying, automatic climate control system has been given to the dashboard.

Some variants have features like sunroof, LED roof lamp, metal scaffolding plate, dual muffler design, and rear USB charger. In addition, Seltos will be available in new Orange and White color dual tones.

Kia Motors India has silently recalled diesel units of Seltos over some faulty fuel pump issue. This recall hasn’t been revealed by the company in public yet but a technical service bulletin from the Kia confirms the same.

 

The document dated October 5, reveals that Kia has issued a recall on all of its diesel units of Seltos. The units in question have been manufactured between 1st October 2019 and 13th March 2020. The bulletin provides procedures to inspect and replace the fuel pump if it is found to be defective.

In a damaged fuel pump, a hole is found on the lower end of the filter. In other cases, there can be a crack in the plastic at the cylindrical head of the filter. In either or both cases the fuel pump would be replaced under warranty at no extra cost from the consumer. If no damage is found, it will not be replaced.

The fault fuel pump would make the car vibrate more than usual, have problems in starting and/or reduce the car’s pickup. Owners of diesel Seltos have reported no proactive communication from the company’s side. They have come to know about this through customers who underwent the same procedure whilst visiting Kia service stations for regular servicing.

Seltos is offered with a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine which cranks out 115 PS of power and 240 N of peak torque. This unit comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Kia Motors press statement; “At Kia Motors, there is a regular practice of upgrading the product. On the feedback received from customers and various sources, necessary improvements are done keeping customers in mind. For vehicles already on road, a communication/guideline is released to the dealers giving details of the inspection process and repairs to be carried out. The recent communication involves inspection of fuel pump & in-case of any observation dealer is required to carry out repair/replacement as the case may be. There is no recall which is announced, it is basically a Service Action Campaign being done on the Kia cars to ensure that our customers do not face any inconvenience.”
