2021 Hyundai Sonata Adds 19-inch Wheels with Pirelli P Zero Tires

23rd July 2020
"P-Zero All Season tires are for driving enthusiasts who want a combination of a performance appearance, responsive handling and durability along with all-season traction, including in light snow.   "

Following a complete redesign in 2020, the 2021 Sonata model line features available 19-inch wheels and tires, Safe Exit Warning and a 6-way power passenger seat on the Limited trim. The 2021 Sonata goes on sale in August.

2021 Hyundai Sonata

The 19-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R19 Pirelli P Zero™ tires are now standard on the turbocharged SEL Plus trim. P-Zero All Season tires are for driving enthusiasts who want a combination of a performance appearance, responsive handling and durability along with all-season traction, including in light snow.

Safe Exit Warning (SEW) has been added to SEL, SEL Plus and Limited trims. SEW uses existing blind-spot radar sensors to automatically warn the driver and passengers if oncoming traffic is detected when parallel parked. The system provides an audible warning and a pop up message in the cluster to ‘Watch for Traffic’ to help to prevent back-seat passengers from stepping out into traffic.

“The 19-inch wheels and tires make a beautiful looking car look and perform even better,” said Scott Margason, director of product planning, Hyundai Motor North America. “After listening to our early 2020 Sonata buyers, we were quickly able to add power height adjustment to the passenger seat on the Limited trim. In addition, across the lineup we’ve added Safe Exit Warning that gives drivers a second set of eyes to let them know if it's safe to open the doors on the driver’s side of the vehicle when parallel parked on a busy city street.”

P-Zero All Season Tires Details

  • Inner block winter siping technology improves snow traction performance (Siping is the process of cutting thin slits across the surface of a tire to improve traction for driving in snowy, wet or icy conditions)
  • Variable size tread design minimizes noise inside the Sonata SEL Plus
  • Circumferential grooves improve safety in aquaplaning situations
  • Lateral siping to maximize cornering performance an dry grip while providing aquaplaning resistance
  • The PIRELLI NOISE CANCELLING SYSTEM™ (PNCS) reduces the noise inside the vehicle thanks to a sound absorbing device applied to the inside circumferential wall of the tire

Hyundai’s eight-inch display audio user interface, equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, is standard on Sonata. The Blue Link Car Connecting System is also available.

Digital Key

Continuing to promote the latest advances in technology, the Sonata supports Hyundai Digital Key via a dedicated smartphone app. Hyundai Digital Key utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which exhibits a high level of security. The NFC wireless data communication takes place only when the device and the reader are within several centimeters of each other. The Hyundai Digital Key app also allows smartphones to control selected vehicle systems remotely. Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication, users can lock and unlock the vehicle, activate the panic alert and start the engine.

2021 Hyundai Sonata digital key

Not only does Hyundai Digital Key allow owners to leave traditional keys at home, it also allows secure sharing of keys with family and friends. The level of access to different vehicle functions can be tailored to each shared key user for a defined period. The vehicle owner can preset the duration of vehicle use or limit the use to only certain features when loaning the vehicle, and, of course, keys can be revoked remotely. For additional convenience in cases such as using a valet service or visiting a Hyundai dealer, Hyundai Digital Key also works with an NFC card, which will be provided with each vehicle. Each Sonata still comes with traditional proximity keys. Digital Key is compatible only with phones using the Android operating system.

World's First CVVD Tech For Engines by Hyundai

3rd July 2019
"The valve control technology regulates the duration of valve opening and closing according to driving conditions, achieving a 4% boost in performance and a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency."

Hyundai Motor Group has built up the world's first Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) innovation and this is good to go to be a piece of Hyundai and Kia line-up. The advancement was uncovered at Hyundai Motor 's studio Goyang close by the Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi, which is the main motor to highlight the innovation.

Function of CVVD

As per the organization, the CVVD enhances both motor execution and eco-friendliness while additionally being eco-accommodating. The valve control innovation manages the term of valve opening and shutting as per driving conditions, accomplishing a 4% lift in Performance and a 5% improvement in Fuel Efficiency. Besides, innovation cuts outflows by 12 percent.

Ordinary variable valve control advancements deal with the planning of the valve's opening and shutting (as in Continuously Variable Valve Timing - CVVT) or control the volume of air conceded by modifying the profundity of the opening (Continuously Variable Valve Lift - CVVL). Past factor valve control advancements couldn't direct valve span, as the valve's end timing was subordinate to opening planning and couldn't react to assorted driving circumstances. CVD takes the innovation toward another path by changing to what extent a valve is open.

How CVVD Works?

At the point when the vehicle is keeping up a steady speed and requires low motor yield, CVVD opens the admission valve from the center to finish off the pressure stroke. This improves eco-friendliness by lessening the opposition brought about by pressure.

Then again, when the motor yield is high, for example, when the vehicle is driving at a fast, the admission valve is shut toward the start of the pressure stroke to amplify the measure of air utilized for the blast, upgrading torque to improve speeding up.

The primary motor to utilize the CVVD tech is the new Smartstream G1.6 T-GDI Engine. It's a turbo petroleum unit with 180 ponies on offer and a pinnacle torque of 265 Nm. The powertrain additionally highlights Low-Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP EGR) to further upgrade eco-friendliness.

Features

The fumes gas distribution framework restores a portion of the gas consumed by the motor to the burning chamber, delivering a cooling impact and decreasing the discharge of nitrogen oxides. The G1.6 T-GDi likewise includes a low-weight framework that diverts the consumed emanation gas to the front of the turbocharger blower, as opposed to the admission framework, to build proficiency under the high burden condition.

Furthermore, the new unit has an Integrated Thermal Management System that rapidly warms or cools the motor to an ideal temperature, and a solid direct shower framework that accomplishes 350bar, outperforming the 250bar of the past T-GDI motor. Also, motor erosion is decreased by 34 percent with the use of low grinding moving parts.

CVVD Technology on Vehicle

We'll first observe the motor on the Hyundai Sonata Turbo, which is set to make its presence in the second 50% of this current year. This debut will stamp the first in a progression of new Hyundai and Kia vehicles highlighting the motor. Data on the first Kia vehicle to include the motor will be uncovered later on close to the vehicle's dispatch date.
