Cyber attacks on '.NP 'domain server

"As per press release issued by Mercantile Communication Pvt. Ltd. confirm that on 13th April at 10.37 PM a security breach to Mercantile's .np domain registration server."

A hacker who has been unauthorized access to various webpages and data systems in Nepal has also launched a cyber attack on the ".NP" domain. The NP server managed by Mercantile Communications Pvt. Ltd for 25 years.

As per press release issued by Mercantile Communication Pvt. Ltd. confirm that on 13th April at 10.37 PM a security breach to Mercantile's .np domain registration server. The majority of the data in this server is public information available via the "whois" query. As per preliminary investigation suggest that all other .np domain services remain uncompromised and as such, continue to operate without any further breached.

They are taking this incident seriously will notify customers if there are any significant developments. They are implementing additional security measures to improve the overall security of the server. The new domain registration will be temporarily halted.

Mercantile has been managing the .np domain for 25 years, free of cost to over 83,000 individuals and businesses with the mission to facilitate and support the digitization of Nepal.
