Honor 20 series unveiled

New Budget Flagship in town. The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro were unveiled at an launch event in London yesterday. Its only been a few months from their View20 launch but due to saturation of budget flagship in the market from others manufacturers encouraged Honor to release a new beast in town.

Honor 20 series have significant camera upgrades over the last generation giving a strong competition to their rivals. The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro has all elements of a 2019 budget flagship. The devices boasts a speedy processor in the Kirin 980, a nearly bezel-less display, a beautiful design, and multiple cameras on the back.

Talking about the display in Honor 20 series phone, both Honor 20 and 20 Pro have a 6.26-inch “All-view” IPS LCD with a 4.5mm hole punch in the top-left corner giving the phone a 91.6% screen-to-body ratio. 32MP camera resides under the display where the punch hole is located.
 

 

Both Honor 20 and 20 Pro comes with quad camera setup in the back, Pro variant having better camera hardware. The difference between the two is very small and you won't miss a lot if you opt for the regular model. Following are the camera specifications of Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro.

The latest 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC powers both Honor 20 AND 20 Pro for high-end performance. Kirin 980 is an octa-core processor consisting of 2 ARM Cortex-A76 cores @ 2.60GHz, 2 ARM Cortex-A76 cores @ 1.92GHz, and 4 ARM Cortex-A55 cores @ 1.80GHz which is bundled with ARM’s Mali-G76MP10 GPU.

The Honor 20 Pro has a slightly larger battery at 4000mAh versus 3750mAh on the standard model even though both smartphones are of same thickness. Both devices support 22.5W SuperCharge 1.0. Other feature these devices include is “Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound” allowing users to hear where the sound is coming from specially useful if you’re playing a game with directional sound like PUBG but requires the use of headphones. Honor says most headphones and earphones will work. Honor is also introducing “AI frequency compensation” to reduce earphone irritation and fatigue. On the back devices feature a 3D curved glass back with a “depth-inducing” optical effect which the company is calling “Dynamic Holographic Design”and comes in 4 different colors: Midnight Black and Safari Blue for the base model and Phantom Blue and Phantom Black for the higher-end model.

 

 

Honor is shipping both smartphones with its custom Android 9 Pie-based software called “Magic UI 2.1.” which is same as EMUI 9.1. The Honor 20 costs 499 Euros for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. On the other hand, the Honor 20 Pro will cost 599 Euros for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. In India, Honor has partnered with Flipkart for sales. The price is approximately equivalent to Nrs. 62000 and 74,400 for Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro respectively.
