Moto: the Marquez brothers resume training on motocross
"Alex Marquez considers that "getting back on a motorbike is always good news, and starting to train again, not only physically, but also on the motorbike ... I'm very happy with that, "said the younger brother."
A report in AFP states that Brothers Marc and Alex Marquez, respectively reigning world champions of MotoGP and Moto2, returned to training on Tuesday on a motocross circuit, after almost two months without a motorcycle due to the coronavirus pandemic, Honda announced Thursday via video.
The six-time world champion and his brother Alex training on the motocross circuit of El Bosquet de Ponts, about forty kilometers from their residence in Catalonia, northeast of Spain.
"It is clear that two months before getting back on a motorcycle, it's a long time. But little by little, we are returning to normal," added Marc Marquez in the video.
"I had a lot of fun on the bike, it's like starting a preseason again, because we're still far from the recovery," said Alex Marquez, who has become his brother's teammate this season the Repsol-Honda team in MotoGP, the top category.
The Andalusian regional government and Dorna, the sponsor company of the MotoGP world circuit, have pleaded to resume the MotoGP season with two Grands Prix on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit (southern Spain) at the weekends July 19 and 26.
But they still miss the green light from the Spanish government and the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) to be able to organize these races.
Despite this uncertainty regarding the date for the resumption of the world championship, Alex Marquez considers that "getting back on a motorbike is always good news, and starting to train again, not only physically, but also on the motorbike ... I'm very happy with that, "said the younger brother.
