Notice issued by Department of Transportation against Tootle and Pathao
"The notice of the Department of Transport, Nepal states that Article 12 of the Transport Management Act states that 'Vehicles registered for one purpose cannot be used for any other purpose'."
The Department of Transport, Nepal has issued a notice not to use vehicles registered for various purposes as public transportation.
The department issued a notice on Tuesday night, warning that vehicles registered for any other purpose violating the law by carrying passengers on freight shall be punished as per the prevailing law.
On Tuesday, the department had issued a notice saying that the department would take action against Tootle and Pathao after the taxi department and the driver besieged the department saying it was exempted from providing law and order services.
The notice of the Department states that Article 12 of the Transport Management Act states that 'Vehicles registered for one purpose cannot be used for any other purpose'.
Earlier, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had directed the police not to intervene after the department demanded action, following widespread protests on social media and general media.
The department again issued notice and warned of action against the purpose of registering for the purpose, without mentioning the names of the Tootle and Pathao. On the basis of this information, the traffic police had initiated action against the driver of the Tootle and Pathao. After the dispute escalated again, Transport Minister Basanta Nemwang had directed not to take action.
Taxi drivers of the valley have been protesting that their business was being hampered due to Tootle and Pathao.
