Samsung Electronics aims to bring 6G technology into commercial operation by early 2028. Announcing the white paper on Tuesday, the company plans to launch 6G services with the expectation of reaching the mainstream by 2030.

ITU-R is a division of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Who is in charge of radio communication. Samsung expects ITU-R to begin defining the 6G Vision next year.

The company notes that time is running out to develop and define the technical standards of the net generation from 2G to 5G. It took 15 years to define 3G, eight years for 5G, and even shorter when it comes to 6G, the company said.

"Even though the 5G technology is in the early stages of commercialization, it's time to start preparing for the development of the 6G," said Sung Hyun Choi, head of the Advanced Communication Research Center at Samsung's research arm.

According to Choi, Samsung will start researching the 6G in full scale from this year. Samsung has defined three categories in its white paper, Performance, Architectural, and Reliability, to experience 6G services such as Truly Immersive Extended Reality, High Fidelity Mobile Hologram, and Digital Replica.

It has the highest data speed of one thousand GB per second, air latency will be less than one hundred microseconds. Samsung has said that the data speed will be 50 times higher than the 5G. Samsung claims to have rolled out the 5G network to South Korean telecom companies in April 2019.

Huawei had a pretty good year before the US implemented Trade Ban on them. Huawei P30 series was a major hit in the market. But not all have excess money in their pocket to buy the high-end phone. Keeping that in mind, Huawei, on June 21 announced the Huawei Nova 5 series in China. This device is the latest entry in the upper mid-range family.

About Huawei Nova 5

Huawei Nova 5 is the first device to be powered by Huawei’s new 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The new Kirin 810 octa-core chipset comprises of two 2.27Ghz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88Ghz Cortex-A55 cores. It also has Mali-G52 GPU for improved graphical performance. The biggest addition in the device is dedicated NPU, which is the first time mid-range device.

Nova 5 series phones feature a quad rear camera setup, offering a 48MP main camera, 16MP ultra-wide shooter, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro camera. A 32MP f/2.0 camera resides in a water-drop notch handling all your selfie needs and has a 6.39-inch full HD+ OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Other additional feature inclues 3500mAh battery with 40W fast charging support which will be able to charge upto 50% in 15 minutes.

Along with Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro was also announced. The only thing differentiating Nova 5 Pro from its other sibling is the use of high-end Kirin 980 chipset.

Talking about the third member of the series Nova 5i offers a punch-hole display instead of the water-drop notch and is powered by Kirin 710 chipset. The device features a 4,000mAh battery and a quad camera setup with the 24MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide snapper, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor.

Huawei Nova 5 Price

The Huawei Nova 5 Pro starts at 2,999 yuan(NPR 48,464) for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB variant will cost you 3,399 yuan (NPR 54,928). The standard Nova 5 is only available in an 8GB/128GB option for 2,799 yuan (NPR 45,232). The Nova 5i starts at 1,999 yuan (NPR 32,303) for the 6GB/128GB model, and 2,199 yuan (NPR 35,536) for the 8GB/128GB variant.

 

Samsung is working on a new phone series the W series which was teased at a Chinese Expo a couple of months ago. Now according to China Telecom’s Weibo account, we might be able to see the device launch this month.

 

 

The device is named W20 5G and from early rumors, it seems the device will come with 512GB of internal storage and come in two colors: Black and White. W20 5G is going to be a foldable clamshell design phone with 5G support and is speculated to succeed the W2019 phone which was availablein China only.

Just a week ago, Samsung Newsroom Youtube channel posted a video of a clamshell phone with tall aspect display. We wonder if that phone is the upcoming W20 5G phone. Nothing much is revealed yet so all the information mentioned should be taken with grains of salt at this point.
