What to do when a car overheats?

 1. Shutting down the A/C

         When you feel that your car is heating, shut down the A/C. It will take some load off the engine and reduce the car’s temperature. You can open the window to make it cool down as quickly as possible.

 

 2. Switch the heater and blower

         It sounds strange but here is the logical explanation; it will transfer the heat from the engine to inside the car. You might want to get out of the vehicle as you would feel like a desert for sometimes, but it is worth trying.

 

 3. Engine revving while the car is idle

        Yet another strange yet logical tip to cool down your car is to rev your engine while the car is idle. This process speeds up the water pump and the fan which will pull more air and water through the radiator. The engine will cool at no time after the boosted liquid and air circulates.

 

 4. Wait

       Another best thing to do when your car overheats is to stop driving and wait. You can open the hood and wait for the engine to cool. Do not try to open the radiator cap to release some pressure and heat, which will result in accidents that may include burning your hands.
