Five ways to get a better car audio quality

16th December 2021
"Most of the ways to get better audio quality in your car involve upgrades, like getting a new head unit, or installing premium speakers or a subwoofer"

Most of the ways to get better audio quality in your car involve upgrades, like getting a new head unit, or installing premium speakers or a subwoofer, but others are focused on improving the environment in your car primarily by removing as much external interference as possible.

So, here are five of the best ways to improve the quality of the audio in your car:

Upgrade Speakers

The first step is to upgrade the factory speakers. Even in some “premium” factory systems, the speakers usually leave much to be desired.

Replacing them will allow you to notice a huge difference right away. It is worth the time to listen to the many options available and let your ears make the final decision.

Plan and make sure that what you buy will handle the additional power of an amplifier and will keep up with the other upgrades you have planned.

Add an Amplifier

The next step would be to add an amplifier to bring those new speakers to life.

Not only will they get louder with the additional power, but that power also adds control to the speaker, which improves the sound quality and detail of the music.

Make sure that you invest in high-quality wires and cables.

Add sound damping materials

That road noise is a killer. Unfortunately, our city's roads are some of the nation's worst, so car stereos have their work cut out for them.

Installing sound dampening materials — insulation sheets or spray foams — into hollow spaces such as inside car doors, can cut out a lot of road noise, which means you'll hear your music better.

Watch the Equalizer

As you are heading down the road, you want to hear the bass, so you start to adjust the equalizer.

As road noise increases, you probably adjust this more, thinking that boosting the bass will help you enjoy the music more.

However, boosting the bass up higher than it should be could distort the sound. It will expose significant flaws in your speakers or analog signal.

However, reduce the mid and treble levels slightly, leave the bass where it is and turn up the volume instead.

Upgrade the Radio

The last thing to look at is that factory radio. Some are so “built-in” that it can be very difficult to change out.

If yours can be changed, then you can drop the line output converters that you need to add the amplifiers and get a radio with good quality RCA outputs which will give you a higher quality signal into the amps.

This is also a good time to add some of the latest features like internet connectivity and the ability to play your music through Bluetooth.

Tips to protect and maintain your car’s exterior

25th November 2021
"Cleaning and maintaining your car's appearance regularly will not only help to protect and maintain but will also improve its reselling value."

To keep your vehicle's exterior looking sharp and free of scratches and dings, you'll want to take some basic precautions.

Here are the simple tips to protect and maintain your car exterior:

Wash your car regularly:

Keeping your car clean will help to maintain and protect the color and luster of the paint. The longer you leave dirt and debris on your car's bodywork the less vibrant the paintwork becomes over time.

So make sure you get all the dirt, dust, bird droppings, etc completely removed. When washing your car, don’t forget to dry it to prevent water spots.

Meanwhile, waxing after cleaning helps to preserve your vehicle’s polished paint for years to come.

Use Correct Washing Materials:

You shouldn't use just any old rag to wash your vehicle. If you do, there's a chance that its abrasiveness could cause scratching.

Instead, you'll want to use synthetic microfiber towels, which are meant for just this type of chore.

When choosing a soap, it's best to go with one that is automotive-specific rather than of the standard household variety.

Avoid Parking under Trees/Behind Cargo Trucks:

Stray debris can scratch or dent your car’s paint and windshield unexpectedly. That’s why you should avoid parking under trees or driving behind cargo trucks when possible.

Trees can drop branches, nuts, acorns, pinecones, and fruit, while debris like sand and gravel from cargo trucks can chip away at your vehicle’s exterior at high speeds.

Store in Shade:

The best way to prevent car damage is from keeping your car parked inside to prevent car damage that can occur from outdoor parking.

If you don’t have a garage or the option to store your vehicle indoors, the next best thing to consider is a car cover.

Depending on where you live and the types of weather you want to protect your car from sunlight, rain, snow, or other unwelcome weather.

Car tricks and tips

15th December 2021
"Here are some simple tips, tricks, best practices, and car hacks that will keep you safe wherever you go."

Here are some simple tips, tricks, best practices, and car hacks that will not only keep you safe wherever you go, but that can help improve the performance, fuel efficiency, and other attributes of your vehicle at the same time.

Clean Headlights with Toothpaste

Clean headlights will help you maintain a much safer drive, but it is often expensive or time-consuming to get the required chemicals to do this.

However, with proper creativity, toothpaste can go from cleaning your teeth to cleaning your headlights.

Using a rag and some water to rinse off afterward, simply scrub down your headlights with toothpaste and watch the grime come right off.

Use Clear Nail Polish to Repair Windshield Cracks

If a rock or any other thing takes a large chip out of your windshield, the initial damage may be minimal.

Soon, however, that chip can lead to long cracks that stretch across the entire surface. Professional windshield repair can be costly.

Those looking for a do-it-yourself windshield sealant will find a temporary solution in the cosmetics aisle.

Fingernail polish serves as a glue that can be used to help prevent cracks from spreading.

De-ice your windshield with vinegar

If you live in an area that has particularly bad winters, one situation that is unfortunately all too common involves ice in the worst possible places.

Sometimes you'll go out to your car in the morning and be greeted by a thick layer of ice on your windshield that your defroster just can't seem to handle on its own.

You may think that pouring hot water on it will instantly solve your problem, but that will only make it worse.

Instead, use a vinegar and water mixture to melt ice the efficient way.

Cover the Windshield during winter

In the summer, you may use a sunshade to prevent the smoldering sun from heating your car’s interior.

In the winter, you can do the same thing, except put a blanket, tarp, or plastic tablecloth over the outside of your windshield to protect it from snow and ice.

This also keeps your windshield wipers from sticking to the glass.
