NADA hails budget for 2019/20

29th May 2019
"The policymakers are familiar with the challenges in Nepal’s market and announced the budget nearly in accordance with NADA's requirement"

Shambhu Dahal, president of Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA)  welcomed the new budget for the year 2019/20. He stated that the policies brought by the government are completely satisfactory to their automobile industry. He said that the policymakers are familiar with the challenges in Nepal’s market and announced the budget nearly in accordance with their requirement.

“In our latest budget, the Government has allocated a huge sum of Rs. 1.53 billion for E-vehicles. With the increase in pollution caused by fuel-consuming vehicles, the Government’s plan to go green with the use of electric vehicles can be one of the landmark decisions by the government,” he stated. The whole of Europe and China has already gone electronic and India’s plan to go completely green with the use of only electronic vehicles from 2025 seems to have a huge impact. However, the budget approved does not clearly state whether the money is allocated for public transportation or for private companies too.

Prafulla Chandra Das, Chairman of Hulas Motors and Tarun Bajracharya, MD of Niu Scooters also pointed out the unclear provisions set by the government in the context of budget allocation for electric vehicles.

NADA Urges The Government To Extend The Deadline For Providing Tax Returns & Tax Amounts

4th May 2021
"According to a statement released today, the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) strongly opposes the decision of the government to require taxpayers to pay their tax obligations by Baisakh 25, 2078 B.S."

According to a statement released today, the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) strongly opposes the decision of the government to require taxpayers to pay their tax obligations by Baisakh 25, 2078 B.S. (May 8, 2021).

The Inland Revenue Department, which issued a public notice requesting entrepreneurs and businessmen to file their tax returns and tax payments as soon as possible, has received strong opposition from the business community, including the automobile industry.

Because the government has imposed a curfew in the capital for the general public's safety in light of the growing number of new variants, entrepreneurs are unable to submit tax and other duties to the Inland Revenue Department.

A similar request has originated from the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association for dealers to supply oxygen cylinders to the oxygen manufacturing industries on their premises.
