New 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series launched, with fingerprint sensor

2nd August 2021
"The new Toyota Land Cruiser seeks to improve comfort while offering a number of feature additions."

The latest Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series was officially launched by the company in select markets. The SUV builds on its decades of the heritage of being a reliable performer that is at home on almost every terrain it is driven on.

The most unique safety highlight though is a fingerprint sensor on the start switch - a first in any Toyota vehicle ever. If the fingerprint matches one of the fingerprints registered to the vehicle, the engine starts; if it does not match, the engine does not start.

The latest Land Cruiser is based on Toyota's GA-F Platform and adopts an updated version of the traditional ladder frame. Toyota claims that the SUV now boasts improved collision safety performance, quietness, and ride quality. The body weight of the vehicle has gone down by 200 kilos and it has a lower center of gravity with enhanced front-rear weight distribution.

The new Land Cruiser also makes use of a newly developed high-mount double-wishbone front and trailing-link rigid-axle rear suspension system which seeks to enhance ride comfort while offering more steering stability.

It also is one of the several safety highlights as it assists in Lane Tracing, better maneuverability at low speeds, reduced kickback while driving off-road. It is standard on the ZX, GR Sport, and VX grades. The other safety features include Electronic Control Brake, Torsen Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

The new Land Cruiser is equipped with two engine options - a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo petrol engine and a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel engine.

The petrol version has 410 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque while the diesel version has 304 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The Direct Shift-10-speed automatic transmission claims to offer better performance while improving fuel efficiency.

The latest Land Cruiser is now equipped with a 12.3-inch screen with an off-road display option. The upper part of the instrument panel is horizontal, there is a single dial to select drive mode and switches to control functionalities like air conditioning, audio system, driving, and drive torque systems.

There are also four cameras - front, rear, and on the sides - to help drivers check road conditions and negate blind spots. This is part of a system called Multi-Terrain Monitor.

Cruiser also gets Multi-Terrain Select which assists the driver in conditions where there is wheel spin. Drivers can select one of six modes―Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, and Rock―and the system delivers guaranteed off-road performance through the automatic and integrated control of drive torque, suspension, and brake hydraulics.

New 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser J300 unveiled as a lighter, more powerful SUV

10th June 2021
"It has new engines including a twin-turbo 3.5-liter petrol V-6 and a 3.3-liter turbo-diesel V-6."

Toyota revealed the latest generation of its flagship luxury off-road SUV during a global online premier Wednesday. The 300 Series Land Cruiser aims to merge new technologies and construction methods with the legendary on- and off-road performance we've come to expect over the nameplate's 70-year history.

At first glance, the new Land Cruiser has a blocky, solid look. There are distinct differences to the previous model, notably around the light positions and bumper shape, but Toyota has kept the length, width and wheelbase the same as the previous model.

The SUV's frame was redesigned to reduce weight and increase rigidity. In fact, the car is 200kg lighter than its most recent predecessor.

It also has a lowered centre of gravity, which should improve handling and, in particular, cornering capabilities.

Improvements have been made to the suspension, with the adoption of something Toyota refers to as an E-KDSS.

The new model now has a multi-terrain monitor, which instantly displays obstacles as viewed from the driver's viewpoint.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged V6, of course, with 3.5-litre petrol and 3.3-litre diesel versions available. These will produce 410 and 305 horsepower, respectively.

The J300 features Toyota's Safety Sense package, with some additional advanced functions.

No price has been announced yet, but the Land Cruiser will be available all over the world.

2022 Toyota Land Cruiser

In this 70th anniversary year of the Land Cruiser, Toyota has completely redesigned its character by merging technologies accumulated over many years with the latest technologies, and is planning to launch it all over the world starting in the summer of 2021.

A cumulative total of approximately 10.4 million units and more than 300,000 units a year have been sold in 170 countries and regions all over the world.

Toyota’s tiny car serves as ball boy at Tokyo Olympics 2021

28th July 2021
"The remote-controlled four-wheeler, which was seen serving ball during rugby games."

Toyota Motor, the official sponsor at the Tokyo Olympics 2021, has offered several vehicles to be used at the Games for transport and other purposes.

Toyota is using a tiny remote-controlled car for match ball delivery during rugby games at Tokyo Olympics.

The car, which appears to be the scale model of the autonomous vehicle Toyota e-Palette, is being used as the official transport for athletes and officials at the event.

The tiny car was used for the first time during the Rugby 7s game between hosts Japan and Fiji. Before the match started, the tiny Toyota car was seen entering the field with the rugby ball neatly perched on top of it.

Toyota has offered a number of its driverless autonomous vehicles to be used during the Tokyo Olympics as part of a shuttle service for all the athletes and officials. The cube-shaped electric autonomous vehicles, called the ‘Tokyo 2020 Version’, are aimed to support athlete mobility at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games this year. The vehicles will move participants between venues and Games village in loop-line transportation.

The battery-electric, automated vehicles have a range of around 150 kms on a single charge and can run at a speed of 19 kmph. They are equipped with an automated driving system that includes advanced sensors such as cameras and LiDAR.
