Viber has made an exciting announcement about its lens users

5th January 2022
"Viber has made an exciting announcement and finding of its lens users"

When Viber looks at the use of AR lenses, women are more likely than men to wear filters on their faces. The trend of red hair has also been found to spread in the popularity of AR lenses.

Rakuten Viber after succeeding in being the world's leader in voice-based communications, private and secure messaging, Viber has launched research into its use after months of launching lenses in partnership with Snap.

Since the first launch, more than 7 million users have used these lenses for mediums such as photo, video, or GIF. Similarly, more than 5.6 million users have made more than 51.8 million captures in the app.

According to statistics, the most popular lens is the "Cartoon Face" lens, which enlarges the image with its large, googly eyes and long tongue. Viber's second most popular lens after "Cartoon Face" is "Red Hair" - which gives users red, long hair. In third place is the "Halloween" lens, which replaces the user's face with a scary mask.

The "Tiger Lens", created in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund, was equally popular, and because of the endangered animal lenses, people in 'some area' received a grant from the World Wildlife Fund for animal protection.

The study also found that people of all ages are more likely to have fun using AR lenses for messaging. When Viber divided it into 3 groups, it found that people in the age group of 30 used lenses the most. 235 people in this age group have been found to use lenses.

Similarly, the second most used group is in the age group of 40. 185 people in this age group are found to have used lenses while only 135 people under the age of 17 are represented.

"Viber has stepped in to revitalize digital communication during difficult times when people could rarely see each other because of Pandemic," said Anna Znamenskaya, Viber's Chief Growth Officer. "People are looking for fun ways to stay in touch with each other, whether it's using the lens to call someone who looks like a tiger or show support for their favorite brands," she said.

Sony Xperia 5 III goes official with Snapdragon 888 and a variable telephoto lens

18th April 2021
"The Sony Xperia 5 III (Mark 3) has nearly identical specifications to the Xperia 5 II, which was released last year"

The Sony Xperia 5 III (Mark 3) has nearly identical specifications to the Xperia 5 II, which was released last year. However, the design is a little different this time, with a rounded frame and a little more weight. Sony has been able to pack a comparatively larger battery as a result of the change. So, without further ado, let us take a look at the Sony Xperia 5 III specifications, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Overview of the Sony Xperia 5 III:

Display and Design

As I previously stated, the design here is very similar, with only minor differences in dimensions.

The Xperia 5 III is slightly thicker at 8.2mm than its predecessor, which is 8.0mm thick. It is also slightly heavier, weighing 169 grams versus 163 grams for the Xperia 5 II.

The display on the phone is 6.1-inch FHD+ HDR OLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has a 240Hz motion blur reduction and a 240Hz touch scanning rate, just like the Xperia 1 III. The screen also covers the entire DCI-P3 color gamut. Not to mention that this display has Sony's trademark 21:9 "CinemaWide" aspect ratio. Furthermore, Corning's Gorilla Glass 6 protects the phone's front and back.

Performance

The Xperia 5 III is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 128/256GB of internal storage. The device is water and dust resistant and meets IP65/68 standards in terms of durability. Furthermore, it is powered by Android 11.

To expand storage, there is a dedicated microSD card slot. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a necessary and uncommon feature in 2021.

Camera

From its predecessor, the camera department has undergone several reforms. The Xperia 5 III is equipped with the same 12MP triple camera setup as the Xperia 1 III.

The variable telephoto module and Dual PDAF sensors are the most noticeable differences between this year's model and its predecessor. It allows the telephoto lens's focal length to be adjusted between 70mm and 105mm, allowing it to capture details at a greater distance. This allows you to zoom in and out from 2.9x to 4.3x.

The front camera has an 8MP f/2.0 lens for taking selfies. Likewise, all of these sensors have ZEISS optics calibration and ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating. To appeal to a broader audience, Sony's native camera app, Photography Pro, includes a "Basic Mode."
