"A comprehensive scholarship system called the "Bharosa Scholarship" has been established to invest in youngsters whose education has been hampered."
The Bharosha Scholarship Programme (BSP) has made arrangements to grant scholarships to students who have lost key sources of support in their families as a result of Covid 19 death and are unable to continue their studies.
Former Minister Gagan Thapa, Sudeep Acharya, Managing Director at Dish Home; Manish Jha, Founding Partner and General Manager at FACTS Nepa; Charu Chadda, Editor, Wow Magazine, and Jimmy Lama, Executive Director at HELP lead the scholarship program
Dish Home, an ISP provider in Nepal, gathered funding from various organizations and people to assist the individuals and families impacted by Covid 19. A comprehensive scholarship system called the "Bharosa Scholarship" has been established to invest in youngsters whose education has been hampered.
In its initial year, the plan aims at helping 50 students from each of the country's seven provinces, with a focus on areas with poor Human Development Index scores.
Moreover, Dish Home service providers can recommend a suitable candidate by collecting the form.
The scholarship will be awarded on an absolute need basis with a monthly financial grant not exceeding Rs 5,000 per month on each student.
A local NGO, Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership (HELP) with a decade of managing a similar scholarship programme will host the scholarship programme for operations.
Likewise, Facts Nepal will provide technical support and data analysis required to drive this programme.
Students of any age and region that hail from one of the districts mentioned above are eligible for application.
However, they must have been directly affected by the Covid 19 to the extent that they are unable to continue their education.
Dish Home Provider will do the initial checks and provide the application form to the students. A student must be studying in a community school, preferably outside Kathmandu valley.
In exceptional cases, applications from Kathmandu will also be considered, but the students cannot be enrolled in a school or college that has fees higher than Rs 200,000 on an annual basis.
