Petrol and diesel prices again rise for the third straight day in INDIA!
"Consumers appear to have no respite as the price of gasoline and diesel has risen for the third day in a row across the country"
Consumers appear to have no respite as the price of gasoline and diesel has risen for the third day in a row across the country. Following two nominal increases in the previous two days, oil companies raised petrol prices by 25 paise per litre and diesel prices by 30 paise per litre on Thursday.
Each day, the scale of the hike has grown larger. Petrol and diesel prices were raised by 15 and 18 paise per litre, respectively, on Tuesday. Yesterday, oil companies raised the price of a litre of petrol by 19 paise, while diesel increased by 21 paise per litre.
With today's increase, Mumbai's petrol price has crept closer to Rs 100 per litre. In the city, diesel prices are also approaching Rs-90 per litre. From today, a litre of petrol in Mumbai will cost 97.34 rupees, while a litre of diesel will cost 88.49 rupees.
In Delhi, the most recent increase has increased the price of gasoline to nearly 91 cents per litre. Today's revised petrol price in the national capital is 90.99 per litre, and the new diesel price is 81.42 per litre.
Chennai, like other major cities, will have to pay 92.90 for a litre of petrol and 86.35 for a litre of diesel. In Kolkata, the revised price of petrol is 91.14 per litre and diesel is 84.26 per litre.
Fuel prices have largely remained stable since March 24, with the exception of a couple of minor decreases until May 3. In addition, on May 2, India completed assembly elections in five states that began in the last week of March. In fact, oil companies held off on raising fuel prices for about 18 days before the first increase a day after the election results were announced.
Prior to March 24, however, the situation was quite different. Since the beginning of the year, India has seen a series of fuel price increases. Fuel prices have risen to an all-time high since January, after being raised 26 times. These increases increased the price of gasoline by 7.46 cents per litre and diesel by 7.60 cents per litre.
