The Ministry reached this point considering the fact of health risks as well as the reality to get access to the class.
He argued that the National Curriculum Evaluation Council has already decided in principle to give approval for the alternative learning and the Curriculum Development Centre is assessing other technical aspects including the credit hours.
The students’ individual evaluation would be done to advance the course and the students’ record would be maintained from each school to confirm the number of the students’ enrolment.
For this to materialize, Alternative System’s Learning Facilitation Guidelines, 2020 would be amended within a week.
On the occasion, Chairman of Nepal Teachers’ Federation Baburam Thapa argued that the discussion on the academic session was a positive move but trading barbs on teachers for poor delivery was not acceptable.

He suggested that several schools would be able to run classes by maintaining social distancing if the fear and concerns of the parents could be addressed. He also stressed on linking teachers with students in alternative learning.
President of Guardians Federation and Academic Session Management Recommendation Committee member Suprabhat Bhandari suggested preparing a plan for mobilizing the national volunteers for the regularity of the academic session as the risk of coronavirus pandemic was not going to go away shortly.

He stressed on the need for cooperation and the development of infrastructure for making the alternative learning functional.
Headteacher of Nilbarahi School, Kathmandu, Dr Januka Poudel shared that a survey showed most of the students of the school did not have access to the internet and information technology. So this is the challenge in an alternative method of teaching and learning, she said.
