Helmets Nepal started the New Year by opening the doors to their third showroom in the heart of the city at Nagpokhari, on 3rd Baisakh. 

Now a pioneer in the after-sales automotive industry specializing in providing helmets and other safety gears, Helmets Nepal first began its operation in Kathmandu in 2016 as a one-click online platform and a store in Anamnagar.

The same year, Helmets Nepal became the first motorcycle safety gear and accessories industry to introduce the concept of showrooms in Nepal by opening its first one in Maitighar.

Another showroom followed in Teku, next to their corporate office in 2019. 

With the theme of the Kathmandu riding experience, the design, and the character of the recent showroom are inspired by the structural elements of the Kathmandu Valley.

With this third showroom, the company wants to keep pursuing the route of providing the best customer experience and easy availability of safety gear.

Regarding this recent expansion, the Helmets Nepal team wants to credit the company's sustained growth to the team's shared vision of thinking ahead, building solidarity, and ensuring road safety.

You are aware that it is really important to wear a helmet when riding a two-wheeler. But do you know why this aspect of the safety gear is so important? Helmets are meant to cover any vulnerable section of the head that if injured, may either lead to deaths or long-term medical problems. The numerous pieces that comprise a helmet that act to protect riders are described below.

The Shell

The outermost part of a helmet is the shell; the substance that takes all the energy on impact. It is a big factor in the weight, form, and price of your helmet. It is possible to produce it from different materials:

1. Fiberglass or fiber composite
2. Polycarbonate 
3. Fiber carbon or Kevlar

One of the most common materials used is fiberglass, as it is hard and long-lasting. A durable and lightweight composite is carbon fiber or Kevlar. The shell normally has a heat-reflecting paint layer to ensure that it is not only safe but also comfortable.
 

EPS Liner 

A dense high-density foam that forms the second layer of the helmet is expanded polystyrene or EPS. The inside of the shell is equipped with this component. It is an equally necessary feature of the helmet and is designed to withstand shocks of all sorts, from mild to dangerous. This cushions your head and provides greater protection from impact.

 

Comfort Liner 

Here's where you get fit. The key job of the comfort lining is to secure the helmet on your head in place and prevent it from spinning in a collision or sliding about. It also affects the noise level within the helmet and serves as a shield, absorbing the sweat and skin oils that strike and weaken the EPS between you and the liner. Nice helmets come with liners for comfort that are reusable and washable. A lot of riders judge helmets by how they fit around the forehead, but fitting snugly is also important for the rest of the head.

 

Pads Cheek

Usually, they are called a feature of the comfort liner, since they are made of the same substance as the liner. In the event of a front or side collision, they prevent the helmet from moving. They contribute to the comfort quotient of helmets as well.
 

The Vents

Vents in a helmet enable airflow as it is worn by the rider. Usually, they are positioned on the chin strip, above the brow, and at the back of the helmet. Two types of vents are typically used in most helmets:

1. Forward-facing vents- Aid to pull in the breeze
2. Rear-facing or exhaust vents- Force out hot air
3. In cold weather, certain helmets have flexible vents or those that you cover in order to control the airflow.

Visor

The visor is a movable mask (slides up and down) that shields the front of your face from dust and direct sunshine, including the eyes. Some helmets often have tinted visors to shield the eyes of the rider from ultraviolet radiation, whereas some of the newer versions incorporate anti-fogging protection that allows riders to travel without compromising their vision in rain or fog. Any of the highest performing visors are made of material made of polycarbonate, which does not crack or crumble on contact.

 

System for retention

Or a chinstrap, as non-engineers call it. It is riveted to the shell of the helmet and must withstand a series of checks testing how resistant it is to being taken out. There's no safety distinction between double D-ring and ratchets or buckles—both styles pass the retention checks or they don't get sold here—but there are no springs or hinges to crack in a D-ring, which is why many riders and almost all racers prefer them. The positioning of the rivets should be so that with the strap buckled, you do not tip the helmet forward off your back.

Motorcycle helmets are supposed to be used all the time-rain, shine, mud pits, and heatwaves. It has the most critical job (protecting the skull and its contents). Knowing how to clean and preserve your motorcycle helmet will not only protect you from having a dank inner lining around your ears, it will also help to prolong your helmet's lifespan and get rid of stinky smell. Some steps on how to clean a motorcycle helmet are as follows:

Step 1: Motorcycle helmet cleaning materials

Getting things in order from the beginning, as with any production, can go a long way towards making the best use of your time when cleaning a motorcycle helmet. In order to clean the helmet, you should have a soft towel, toothbrush, shampoo, and warm water. These materials will help you to clean your helmet like a pro.

Step 2: Remove any electronics and external accessories

You should make sure to remove all internal electrical devices such as speakers, antennas, batteries, and the Bluetooth communicator units they mount before you wash a motorcycle helmet. In addition, whether you're working on a dual-sport or off-road helmet that has a peak, removing it and washing it separately is much simpler.

 

Step 3: Remove the helmet's interior

Although many companies have somewhat different styles, it rarely takes more than a few strategic tugs to remove the internal liner and cheek pads. Comfort pads and liners are attached with snaps in most situations, but others use hook-and-loop fabrics or even magnets. Be sure to check the owner's manual for details. Put these on the side until you have cut the cheek pads and mainliner.

 

Step 4: Clean the interior lining

The interior of a motorcycle helmet is always the one that needs to be cleaned the most. The padding of your motorcycle helmet soaks up lots of grime, from facial sweat to hair spray. Fill a sink, shower, or bucket with warm water and baby shampoo while washing the lining of your motorcycle helmet, and then dunk, rinse, and massage each piece of your helmet liner in the soapy water. For this job, baby shampoo works well as it is super soft, but also clearly formulated to scrub away sweat and hair oil. Let the helmet liner and cheek pads air dry when done.

Step 5: Clean the motorcycle helmet's exterior

Take the face shield off and set it aside after removing the damp rag that you put on the helmet. To gently work your way around the surface of the helmet, use a new, damp soft towel to brush away any remaining soil. Always make careful to use only warm water when washing your motorcycle helmet. The exterior of your helmet can be affected by some solvents and cleaning solutions. For hard-to-reach places, the toothbrush will come in handy.

Step 6: Clean the face shield

Most typical face shields have a protective coating of some sort. For that cause, and much like the outside of your helmet itself, when cleaning a motorcycle face shield, you can never use anything other than warm water. Ultimately, just using a damp soft towel and softly massaging away any dirt, grit, or smudges is the easiest way to wash a motorcycle face mask. As for the outside of the helmet, leaving a damp rag draped over the face shield for several minutes softens the remnants of the crusty bug and renders it soft, and makes the job easier.

Step 7: Wipe down the internal sun shield

If there is an internal sun shield on your helmet, it is actually not very dusty. Fast sprits of water and wipe down with a microfiber towel will do the trick if the drop-down visor has become a little dirty over time, though. It is better to keep it in place when washing unless you are stubborn in your determination to remove the whole sun visor since it can be a bear to bring back into place once removed.

 

Step 8: Reassemble the helmet

Reassemble your helmet starting with the dry liner and cheek pads. Reattach your face shield and any other pieces that you removed prior to cleaning.

The figures remain constant, though helmet regulations vary from state to state. Those that use a helmet are far less likely to experience a severe head injury in a collision while riding a motorcycle, bicycle, scooter, or skiing. The reason why people don't wear helmets, you've probably learned, is because they screw up their hair, they're bulky, they're too warm, or they don't really assist prevent accidents or save lives. Or you may have learned that a helmet might just save your life, but will leave you in a vegetative state.

This is a fair enough excuse to wear a helmet.

It is a luxury to drive a motorcycle and a perfect way for many users to get around. Helmets do not completely eradicate brain injury, but they are around 67 percent successful in avoiding certain forms of injuries, as mentioned earlier. The last thing anyone wants is for there to be a serious accident, regardless of who is at fault. Injured riders would even need to contact brain injury lawyers at times. This may be because the operator is not at fault and the insurance company of the at-fault driver is not prepared to cover any (or all) of the damages incurred to not only the motorcycle but also medical expenses.

Shielding helmets from loose gravel and other parts

Wearing a helmet can help you avoid hazards that can kick up from the road and onto your face, including rocks or other forms of debris. A helmet will also avoid dust from getting into your eyes and other stuff, which may impair your vision and lead to an accident. This may involve rain, wind, and sunshine.

Visibility is improved by helmets

Motorcyclists are, sadly, harder to see on the road than other vehicles. Even so, as a function of several helmets including reflectors or other types of materials that make them more conspicuous, a helmet may enhance the appearance of a wearer.

Saving lives

If more motorcycle drivers wore helmets, more lives might have been saved. Accidents involving motorcycles happen. They are not inherently more common than incidents involving cars and trucks, but riders are more vulnerable to serious injury. You might be a safe and vigilant driver, but there are still accidents.
