Yes, along with the comfort, convenience, and looks of the car safety is also equally important. Here is some basic safety feature you can look at before purchasing a car in the 21^st Century. 

ABS with EBD:

ABS is known as an Anti-lock braking system. This helps to prevent your car from locking up and improves steering control while taking a break while EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) ensures the correct brake force for each of the car wheels equally.

Three steps of ABS- Push the brake pedal, Detect skidding or locking with wheel sensor, and Pumps the brakes with ABS. If there’s no electronic brake force distribution, it could result in car slipping and loss of control on the vehicle.

Airbags:

A car without airbags is like riding a two-wheeler without a helmet. It is dangerous because, without fully operational airbags, the car safety features are down 50%.

The goal of the airbag is to provide crucial cushioning for people during a crash. There are normally 2 to 7 airbags in a ca depending on its model.

Seatbelt Reminder:

The seat belt reminder in a car is a must safety feature to be looked at as it helps you be safe. Also, airbags won’t operate if a driver is not wearing a seat belt properly.

Crash Unlock System:

A crash unlocks system in a car helps the car to be unlocked during a crash/accident which in result helps to rescue the drivers and passengers easily without wasting a time.

This system automatically unlocks the door when there is an accident or a car senses the crash.

Hill Launch Assist (HLA)

Hill Launch Assist feature in a car helps in preventing roll-back when driving on a slope or inclined surface.

When you switch from the brakes to the gas pedal, the hill launch assists balance the pressure applies to the brake. And, it releases the brake once you press the accelerator.

Active-Roll over prevention (ARP):

Active-Roll over prevention is a safety system for a vehicle that assists you’re driving during a curve at high speed.

It recognizes close rollover and selectively applies brakes to resist.

Traction Control system (TCS):

The traction control system in a car helps prevent wheel slippage or over spinning on a wet or greasy road.

The traction control feature gets activated when it senses the risk of wheel skid and helps the driver make use of the traction specification to the rescue.

Alto has always been one of the favorite cars all over the South Asian countries. It has a small size that adapts the crowded cities and traffics and it comes in an affordable price. Statistics show that 58% of the Alto costumers chose the car as their first car. It is because of the consistency Maruti Suzuki provide in their cars. They are not yet satisfied with what they have achieved and want to go further with enhanced safety features, new design and a BSVI engine.

 

The new Alto has a new grille, sharp headlamps and a newly designed bumper. The interior has also been modified to get a fresh design. It has dual tone interiors and AC ducts. Smart Play Dock is the featured infotainment system in the new Alto. Now, the customers can listen to their favorite music, access calls, and navigate their way with the newly featured Smart Play Dock.

 

Alto has upgraded its safety features which include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD), Reverse Parking Sensor, Driver Airbag, Speed Alert System, and Seat Belt Reminder for both driver and co-driver. The upcoming crash and pedestrian safety regulation is also complied by the New Alto.

The New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) recently performed an assessment of the newly launched Honda City model. This is the third assessment that ASEAN NCAP performed on the model in which the first was conducted in 2012 whilst the second in 2014.

The new Honda City for 2020 had an outstanding result under the current 2017-2020 assessment. The sedan obtained an overall score of 86.54 points which was awarded a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating. For each assessed category from this accumulated score, the Honda City received 44.83 points for the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, 22.82 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP) and 18.89 points for Safety Assist Technologies (SATs).

The new sedan has a standard fitment of four airbags, Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both of its frontal occupants and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) across all its variants. An Emergency Stop Signal technology is also available in the current City variant that is launched and sold in the Thailand market either as standard or optional fitment. Nevertheless, all the safety assist technologies that are assessed by ASEAN NCAP will be available either as standard or as an option in all the variants that will be launched soon in several countries across South East Asia. In addition, the City will be offering a Blind Spot Visualization (BSV) technology invariants that are available in certain Southeast Asian countries. The BSV is available as optional equipment fitted on the passenger side of the vehicle.

MIROS Director-General and ASEAN NCAP Chairperson, Ts. Dr. Siti Zaharah Ishak said:

“We are excited to have another 5-Star car in the line-up of ASEAN NCAP assessed vehicles. Although the City was assessed twice prior to this, we can see there have been significant improvements in the number of safety technologies that are equipped in this new model as a standard fitment. I am also pleased that in addition to the existing safety assist technologies ASEAN NCAP is assessing, which will be available in variants that will be launched soon, Honda has also added an Emergency Stop Signal technology that consumers will benefit in mitigating any unwanted collision.”

ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General, Professor (Adjunct) Ir. Dr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said:

“Honda City has shown consistent 5-Star performances since it was assessed in 2012. The pre-requisite that ASEAN NCAP set in 2014 -2016 assessment in which variants that are fitted with ESC and SBR for both frontal occupants are eligible for 5-Star AOP rating, provided that the model scored within the 5-Star scoring range, had given significant impact towards the development of upcoming models. By having the pre-requisite, manufacturers are well prepared by including the ASEAN NCAP core criteria under the 2017-2020 assessment into some of the model’s variants. Most importantly, now, manufacturers like Honda has equipped these important passive and active safety technologies in their model as standard fitment in order to make their cars safer for the benefit of road users.”

During the Phase I of ASEAN NCAP assessment in 2012, Honda City was awarded a 5-Star rating for AOP with a score of 15.44 over 16.00 points and 81% compliance for the COP category. ASEAN NCAP again assessed the model in 2014 in which it received two ratings (4- and 5-Star) for AOP with a score of 15.80 points over 16.00 and 4-Star for COP category with 83% compliance.

Note: Under the ASEAN NCAP pre-requisite in 2014-2016 assessment, variants that are not equipped with ESC and SBR for both driver and front passengers will be automatically rated as 4-Star AOP despite the model successfully achieved a score within 5-Star range.

An overview of the second ASEAN NCAP result for Q1 2020 is as follows.

• The new Honda City made an impressive performance with a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating with an overall score of 86.54 points. Under each assessed category, the City received 44.83 points for AOP, 22.82 points for COP and 18.89 points for SATs.
