Samsung Galaxy M51 exterior design leaked

25th August 2020
"Samsung Galaxy M51 phone’s exterior design."

No stone has been left unturned in regards to its specs but truth be told, we haven’t seen much of this phone’s exterior design. There was that unusual Galaxy M51/M41 render that emerged nearly half a year ago but that looks nothing like the Galaxy M51 in light of the recently-leaked specs.

Nevertheless, the moment of truth is finally here as one of the final puzzle pieces has fallen into place. A series of official press renders have leaked on twitter.

Here's your first look at the official press renders of Samsung Galaxy M51 in Black & White colors!

These images have given us a complete look at the Galaxy M51 from nearly every angle. The renders depict the Galaxy M51 in two color options, black and white, and reconfirm features such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and an L-shaped quad-camera setup on the back panel.

The Galaxy M51 looks very much like the Galaxy A71 indeed, with a few key exceptions. Barring the latter model’s Prism color design, they look nearly identical. And the story is similar on the inside as it turns out that the Galaxy M51 will share a lot of its hardware components with the Galaxy A71, from the chipset to its memory configuration and more than a few camera characteristics.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we find out more about the Galaxy M51’s launch date and price. An official announcement could be just around the corner, seeing how the device has taken the headlines by storm at the start of the week, so stay tuned.

Huawei looses Google Support

19th May 2019
"Huawei has previously mentioned it has been preparing for six years or more for any ban of Android. "

Today, President of United States of America Mr. Donald Trump has signed the "Executive Order on Securing the Information and Communications Technology and Services Supply Chain" which outright bans telecoms from using equipment "designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied, by persons owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of a foreign adversary." Although the order doesn't name any countries or companies by name, it's clear that the order is aimed at China and Huawei. The Department of Commerce has added Huawei to its Entity List last week, which bans the company from buying US parts and components from American companies without approval from the US government.

Recent update in this issue is that Google is ceasing most partnerships with Huawei, and future phones from the company won't have access to the Play Store and other services. Although Google is planning to comply with the U.S. government’s plan to place Huawei on its Entity List, Google using their Android Twitter account today released statement stating current Huawei(maybe Honor as well) devices will continue to have access of services like Playstore and security from Google Play Store.

It is still unclear what will be the impact of this decision to the future of Huawei devices. According to Reuters, Google was forced into suspending business with Huawei that “requires the transfer of hardware and software products.” Due to this “Huawei Technologies will immediately lose access to updates to the Android operating system, and the next version of its smartphones outside of China will also lose access to popular applications and services including the Google Play Store and Gmail app,” Reuters noted.

HiSilicon chip division of Huawei, stated it has “long been ready” for any ban, while Huawei has previously mentioned it has been preparing for six years or more for any ban of Android.

Two possible designs for Realme Smartwatch

25th August 2020
"Realme is working on new smartwatch designs."

Realme is working on new smartwatch designs, two of which were filed with the Chinese Patent Office. The company’s first model, the Realme Watch was announced a month ago and these new designs share a lot of similarities with it. For starters, both are square.

In fact, this first design appears identical at first glance, but a closer examination does reveal some differences. The display appears to be a tad smaller and the button is higher up. Also, the sensor bump on the back is now square.

Moving on to the second design, this one brings a bit of color to the front for a two-tone look. Also, the button on the side is round, which may indicate that it’s a crown (meaning you can rotate it).

Both have different straps – one with a buckle and one push-to-fit – but the original Watch also came with different straps depending on the region.

It’s not clear if either of these designs will make it to market - these could just be early iterations of the current Watch.

Google Home 2.27 brings dark theme to Android

25th August 2020
"Google’s first-party apps have dark modes."

At this point, nearly all of Google’s first-party apps have dark modes. There are some glaring exceptions to this, but fortunately version 2.27 of Google Home today adds a dark theme.

The Google Home dark theme is quite straightforward, with the stark white background turning into the same shade of dark gray used by every other Google app. It makes for a world of difference, given that you’re controlling your smart devices throughout the day and long into the night. It starts at the splash screen.

All icons, including the shortcut rows at the top of the app and device stand-ins, are appropriately adjusted and tinted. The text for room names are now white against the darker background, while devices are gray.

This dark theme spans every menu and screen in Google Home 2.27. This includes the Primary events feed, settings menus, panes, and more. There is no option in app preferences to independently set the dark theme independent of your device’s theme.
In addition to un/locking the Nest x Yale Lock, the Home view of all your devices will soon identify the on/off state of lights, switches, and plugs.

Google Home 2.27 with a dark theme for Android is rolling out now via the Play Store. Version 2.27 is available for iOS today, but the new look is coming via a server-side update.
