Simple Car Riding mistakes to be Avoided

We can see many road accidents taking place these days in Nepal and most of the cases are due to human error.

Driving a car is an interesting thing to do but there are some common mistakes we need to avoid. Some of them are:

Failure to Use Your Turn Signal

One of the most common driving mistakes that can put you in danger is neglecting to use your turn signal. When you turn or change lanes, this simple act is crucial to ensuring your safety.

A quick turn signal is the best way to inform other drivers of your next move.

When you use your turn signal, you’re alerting other drivers of your intentions, which gives them time to accommodate you turning a corner or changing lanes.

If you don’t use it, no one will know when you plan to slow down and turn or head for a different lane on the highway which means they could accidentally hit you.

Always use your turn signal even if there’s no one behind you so it becomes a habit.

Poor Steering Wheel Techniques

Your vehicle relies on you to keep it on the straight and narrow, but if you use poor steering techniques, things can turn out badly.

Many drivers try to drive with one hand or simply don’t practice the proper techniques when it comes to using the steering wheel. Also, when you don’t have a firm grip on the wheel, it’s easy to lose control of your vehicle and end up in a crash.

Some drivers “hook the wheel” which means that they don’t use both hands and place their forearm facing up with just one hand gripping the wheel. This is a dangerous, ineffective way to steer a vehicle safely.

Leaving high beams on

This is one of the most common habits of most of the drivers out there. Forgetting to lower the beam of light when there is a vehicle coming from the opposite side.

High beams are essential when driving at night on roads that do not have streetlights.

However, these beams can blind oncoming traffic and distract drivers ahead of you. So when you see another car’s headlights or taillights in the distance, use low beams.

Stopping abruptly without warning

Slamming on the brakes in moving traffic for no obvious reason, is one of the leading causes of accidents on roads and highways.

A sudden decision to stop without thought or indication is bound to have consequences.

You should always be aware of the cars behind you, stopping slowly and carefully, giving other drivers time to react and adjust.

How to maintain your car brakes

8th December 2021
"Although each vehicle component plays an important part in making it run effectively, a car’s brakes are one of the most crucial parts."

Although each vehicle component plays an important part in making it run effectively, a car’s brakes are one of the most crucial parts. If your brakes don’t work properly, it could put you, your passengers, and other people on the road in great danger.

To help keep that from happening, here’s how to take care of your brakes:

Do Not Overload Your Car

If your vehicle is loaded with a lot of luggage, the brakes will have to work harder to function.

If you think about it deeply, overloading your car can majorly decrease your car brake’s life in the long run.

It will be easier for your brakes, tires, and tank to function when your vehicle is lightweight.

Try to take out all the items that are not needed to decrease the load to avoid early poor brake-functioning.

Use Single Foot

It may seem obvious, but some people tend to tap their brake pad with their left foot while their right foot is on the gas pedal.

‘Two-footing’ is a bad habit that does nothing really to stop a car, but leads to premature brake pads wear.

Flush Brake Fluid Regularly

Automotive experts recommend flushing or replacing your brakes at a regular interval.

The fluids near the brake attract water which reduces good braking performance.

As the brakes attract water, the moisture can lead to corrosion of the brakes, which might result in a flawed braking system.

Flushing your brakes regularly will improve your car brakes’ performance and ultimately make your rides safe.

Increase the Gap

When driving in heavy traffic, you need to be alert and keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

You can only maintain this by driving slowly on crowded roads to avoid pressing the car brakes suddenly.

Maintaining a slow velocity will also allow you to try coasting on heavy traffic areas as it will widen the gap between your car and the vehicle in front of you.

Dos and Don'ts for Leather Interior of Your Car

17th December 2021
"The leather interior is always the first priority of many people as it truly elevates the car’s interior."

The leather interior is always the first priority of many people as it truly elevates the car’s interior.

Likewise, leather is quite strong and will serve you well if properly cared for. If you have never given a thought to your leather auto seats here are a few tips you can go through.

Today in this article we will be talking about some dos and don't for your leather interior.

Dos

Consult your owner’s manual

Always consult your owner’s manual to see if there are any special guidelines for your leather seats.

Use cleaners and conditioners designed specifically for leather

Always make sure you use cleaners and conditioners designed specifically for leather or you go with the natural cleaner available in your home or even at the market.

You can also make your own with olive oil and vinegar, or Castile soap and warm water.

Vacuum the seats first

The first and foremost thing you always need to do is vacuum your seats as they expel particles of dirt.

Moreover, this ensures dirt, sand, and loose grime won’t scratch or rub into your seats as you clean.

If the grit is left on the seats, it may scratch the leather when you wipe them down.

Clean up spills quickly

Always Clean up spills quickly to reduce the chance of staining in your leather.

Don'ts

Don't guess the quality of the leather

Don’t guess if you’re not the original owner. When in doubt, ask your dealer or the original owner about the type of leather and if it has been re-dyed.

Moreover, don’t guess what kind of leather it is, and don’t spray anything directly on seats, especially perforated leather.

Don't use a Cleaner with Petroleum/silicone

Don’t use cheap cleaners and conditioners that contain petroleum or waxes as they can cause product build-up and dull your leather’s finish. Also, don’t let the cleaner dry on the leather.

Moreover, don’t let the wet solution dry on the seats. Always, make sure you massage it with your cloth until it has been absorbed.

Don't Scrub

Don’t use hard bristles for deep cleaning. Always choose a soft-bristled toothbrush or a specifically-made car cleaning brush.

Don't soak a cloth

Don’t soak your cloth with a cleaning solution. Too much liquid can damage the seat or, if you have perforated leather, soak through and breed mildew or mold.
