Volkswagen Taigo spotted without camouflage

16th June 2021
"The Nivus debuted in Brazil with a new infotainment system called Volks Play, which was created in Brazil"

The European VW Taigo is built on the same MQB-A0 platform as the Volkswagen Taigun, which was unveiled in India earlier this year

The Volkswagen Nivus, a compact crossover that debuted in South America and Mexico, will make its European premiere as the Taigo before the end of 2021. The VW Taigo is similar in positioning to the Volkswagen T-Cross, which is already on sale in Western Europe, and is described as having a dynamic and bright design as well as a distinct character. It is distinguished by a lower, coupe-style roofline, as well as being longer and broader. It's built on the same MQB-A0 platform as the Volkswagen Taigun, which debuted in India earlier this year.

The Nivus will go on sale in Europe in the fourth quarter of this year, shortly after Volkswagen said it will be known as the Taigo on the old continent.

A facelifted version of the bigger Volkswagen T-Roc SUV will follow quickly thereafter. While the Nivus was designed primarily for the South American market, VW stated at the time of its launch in 2020 that it would eventually be available in select European countries.

The Nivus debuted in Brazil with a new infotainment system called Volks Play, which was created in Brazil.

The 10.0-inch high-definition screen includes technology comparable to that found in current European VWs, such as an App Store and built-in Wi-Fi. The system is also touted to be weather resistant and durable, as part of a larger focus on the Nivus to assure long-term reliability, which is critical in severe South American climates and roads. For example, the company can put the car's electrical system to the test over a period of up to ten years to observe how it performs.

The Nivus is also the first Brazilian vehicle to use adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking. A digital dashboard, keyless entry, six airbags, a driver drowsiness detector, and a driver drowsiness detector are also reported to be market firsts. More detailed details, such as the car's engines and pricing, are yet to be announced, though Volkswagen has stated that it would be available in Europe with "economical TSI engines," meaning that no diesel choices will be available.

World première of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI in Geneva Motor Show 2020

23rd February 2020
"Volkswagen Golf GTI also became an icon because Volkswagen continually reinvented it, all along combining tradition with innovation."

When Volkswagen launched the first Golf GTI 45 years ago at the International Motor show (IAA) in Frankfurt, no one could have guessed that the three letters G, T and I would go on to identify an icon. But that is exactly what happened. Anyone referring to GTI today is talking about an icon: the Golf GTI. Now Volkswagen is presenting the eighth generation of this worldwide success at the Geneva International Motor Show 2020 from 5 to 15 March. This marks the launch of a pure, intelligent and superior high-tech sports car for the digital age.

The GTI’s secret of success is that its DNA has never changed. It still has a clean design, front-wheel drive, the most agile running gear, a powerful petrol engine, insignias like the red stripe in the radiator grille, and chequered seat covers. But the Volkswagen Golf GTI also became an icon because Volkswagen continually reinvented it, all along combining tradition with innovation. And that’s also the case in 2020. Volkswagen has digitalized and networked the new Golf GTI, catapulting it into the future with a multitude of intelligent assistance systems and both powerful and stylish design.

The new Golf GTI is one of the first compact sports cars to communicate via Car2X with other vehicles, taking safety to a whole new level. As the first sports car in its class, the Golf GTI can be driven with Travel Assist up to a speed of 210 km/h. This is the first generation of Golf GTI to have a completely digitalized interior landscape of displays and controls. The new generation also has both the red stripe on the radiator grille and an optional LED crossbar integrated into the daytime running lights.

The power delivery of the GTI turbo engine will exceed expectations. The same can be said of the running gear, which can be set precisely by the driver in conjunction with a new DCC generation (adaptive chassis control). Some things have remained the same, however: the perfect ergonomics of the standard chequered sports seats. And so once again the true essence of a compact sports car is unveiled – and will make its debut in Geneva.

Volkswagen ID.4 first all-electric SUV Crossover Teased

27th August 2020
"The outline of the Volkswagen ID.4 is that of a typical crossover."

The German carmaker is gearing up to put an end to all the anticipations soon. Volkswagen has released a teaser image of the ID.4 giving us a good idea of its stylish and urban design language.

Volkswagen-ID-4

With the ID.4, Volkswagen is expanding its offering by an all-electric vehicle in the largest segment worldwide – the compact SUV class. The car will in future be built and sold in Europe, China and later also in the US. Klaus Zyciora knows the character of the ID.4 like no-one else – the Head of Design for the Volkswagen Group designed the car together with his team.

Volkswagen-ID-4-Crossover-Teased

The outline of the ID.4 is of a typical crossover but the face looks very attractive as per the teaser images. Of course, then, the grille is missing and you get a very sleek chunk instead which is flanked by stretched out LED projector headlamps. That said, it will remind us of the Kia Seltos as well with a really slim DRL strip running on that sleek portion.

In fact, it's the DRLs that enhance its appeal with the way they fringe around the headlight assemblies and we hope the production model stays true to this design language. It makes a solid impression with sharp character lines on the bumper and hood which continues on the profile as well. Moreover, the sloping roofline, curvy beltline and flared wheel arches give it a sporty stance, in-turn adding to its urban crossover appeal.

Volkswagen-look

The Volkswagen ID.4 will be an all-electric all-wheel-drive (AWD) crossover and will be slightly longer than the Volkswagen Tiguan in terms of dimension. It'll be underpinned by Volkswagen's MEB modular platform for all-electric vehicles which will also underpin the upcoming Skoda Enyaq IV, it's an in-house rival. Powering the Volkswagen ID.4 will be two electric motors at both axles with a combined output of approximately 198 bhp and it will have a range of 500 km on a single charge according to WLTP cycle.
