"An electric vehicle with an initiative to make the earth a better place rather than thinking of moving to Mars."
Reviews
We are just few steps away from Mars. Scientists are brainstorming on how to take people up there. They are working to find a solution to maintain oxygen levels necessary for the survival of the people while we are breathing polluted air here on Earth. So, at this time of crisis, instead of Mars rovers, Hyundai has launched a compact electric SUV, Kona. An electric vehicle with an initiative to make the earth a better place rather than thinking of moving to Mars.
Hyundai Kona Electric Design
The concept of the car is the starting of an era. The unique closed-off front grille makes it look futuristic. The details in the body are impressive with shark flanks, discrete top-bottom LED Headlamps, dual-tone body, outstanding rear LED and a distinct body type that makes it an SUV but compact enough for urban roads.
Hyundai Kona Electric Interior
The interior looks like a cockpit with the steering of a car. The car starts and shuts instantly with a switch. We get to hear no sound of combustion while starting, driving or even taking it up the hill. The 7-inch floating touch screen infotainment system supports both apple car play and android auto. The speakers in the SUV are very good with clear sound and bass. It has the feature of wireless phone charger. The SUV has driving options you can choose depending upon the road type. The wipers are rain-sensing. It is a perfect SUV for long drives where you can sip your juice sitting in your leather seat with an armrest with cup holder.
Hyundai Kona Electric Battery and Motor
The high voltage electric motor delivers an impressive 150 kW of power with a maximum torque of 395 Nm for instant and impressive acceleration. With the 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, the increased power density of this advanced battery delivers more performance and a greater driving range. Generally, in Nepal, we have the tendency to drive a manual car that can be confidently put in the first gear and drive in steep roads. Taking an electric car on such roads were not in our comfort zone. But after test driving Kona, our misconception came to a conclusion. It has a feature called Hill Assist Control (HAC) making it silent and smoother than other cars.
Hyundai Kona Electric Charging Time
The concealed front charge port can be opened for charging. The charging of the SUV has three options: the station charger can charge it within two hours, wall charger can charge it within six hours and a standard three-pin wall socket charger can charge it within 19 hours.
Hyundai Kona Electric distance in one charge
After one full charge, the SUV can go up to 450 km. In a small country like Nepal, the SUV is good to go to most of the places with a single charge. Don't let the petrol stations stop you from your destination.
Space and related specs
It is designed to fit everything you and your busy life can throw at it. The versatile Kona offers plenty of room for both passengers and cargo- it is amongst the best class for leg, shoulder, and headroom. A compact SUV that doesn't compromise on space, Kona also delivers an outstanding trunk capacity of 332 litres. The SUV has the ground clearance of 170 mm.
There are four colour options for the SUV and they are quite unique from other vehicles. It is obvious for people to look at your car while you are silently passing through them.
