CREASION and Coca-Cola assist waste workers with safety amenities and health camp marking World Health Day

 CREASION with the support of The Coca-Cola Foundation and Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited jointly conducted Occupational Safety Training and Health Camp for waste workers on the occasion of World Health Day 2021.

In alignment with the celebration’s theme to ensure a fairer and healthier world, the event was organized for waste workers putting into consideration their vulnerable working conditions

The program included a training session on safety measures during and after work, usage of different safety gear, prevention of occupational accidents at the site, and a session on the use of fire extinguishers and other safety equipment for a safer working condition.

Safety gears including protective shoes, caps, jackets, masks, and gloves were also handed over to the waste workers.

In view of the sites’ vulnerability to fire accidents and other hazards, each site was also equipped with fire extinguishers and other safety amenities.

The health camp which was led by Dr. Anuj Raj Kandel consisted of medical checkups and consultations with the waste workers regarding their health concerns and issues.

One of the other major highlights of the event was the handover of labor contracts for the employees of the baling sites.

The contract has been provided to help balers formalize working conditions for the benefit of their employees. 

Speaking about the initiation, Aanand Mishra, Founder and President of CREASION shared, “The vulnerable working conditions of waste workers is a threat to their livelihood, our environment, and the society.

We are humbled to provide them assistance through safety training and health camps and will continue with our effort for a fairer and healthier world for them with the support of The Coca-Cola Foundation.”

Mr. Pradip Pandey, Managing Director, Bottlers Nepal Ltd. shared, “Workers in the waste and recycling industry face many occupational health risks and hazards.

We are humbled to support the heroic efforts of these unsung heroes who risk their own health and lives every day to make our planet cleaner.

Together with our partners, we aim to build a safe environment for waste workers, where they are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.”

The event reached out to 67 waste workers in six different bailing sites of Satungal, Teku, Balkumari, and Jorpati.

One of the beneficiary waste workers added, “We cannot change the risks that come with our job but with frequent safety training, medical check-up, we will be able to prevent such risks and we are thankful for that.”

Beat the Midday Slump With Coca-Cola and Never Miss a Thing! - Coca-Cola Nepal

Coca-Cola in Nepal has launched a new campaign which aims to inspire teens and young adults to beat the midday slump and turn up your day with refreshing Coke so that you never miss out special moments and opportunities. The new campaign comes with the tag line “Diusai Jhap Jhap, Coke le Up” which means that when you get sleepy during midday, Coke gives you a boost of upliftment in your mood and energy.


As a part of the campaign, Coca-Cola in Nepal has unveiled a new TVC which features actress Swastima Khadka and singer Nitesh Jung Kunwar. The TVC begins with Swastimaordering a bottle of Coca-Cola while she is feeling sleepy due to the midday slump. While she is dozing off, she misses out on special moments like an opportunity to connect with her crush (Nitesh) when he checks her out. When she gulps down the chilled and crisp Coca-Cola, her energy gets instantly uplifted from the great refreshing taste of Coke. She then speeds off to Nitesh, who is now drowsing off, and playfully taps the chilled Coke bottle on his cheeks perking him up as well.


Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Ambuj Singh, Country Director of Coca-Cola Nepal said,“Through this new campaign, Coca-Cola encourages consumers to have a Coke and uplift their afternoon. We wish consumers to be at their personal best all throughout the day and not miss out any moment because of midday slump.”


Mr. Pradip Pandey, Managing Director, Bottlers Nepal Ltd. said, “Our daily routine goes into moments of lethargy through the day and maintaining that energy level can be a task in itself. The new campaign is all about breaking that mid-day slump by having a Coca-Cola, to get refreshed and get going. It works for me and I would urge our consumers to try it too.”

CREASION and Coca-Cola come together to provide relief to 3200 waste workers in Nepal

An initiative by  CREASION  supported by Coca-Cola Nepal to ensure the safety and livelihood of waste workers who are equally at the frontline of the COVID-19 outbreak through safety awareness programs and distribution of safety gears and relief materials.

CREASION along with Coca-Cola in Nepal announced a joint initiative named Waste Worker Emergency Relief Project (WWERP) with the aim to provide awareness, safety gears and relief materials for vulnerable waste workers and their families to help protect them from the negative impacts of the virus. The project is part of Coca-Cola in Nepal’s initial pledge of Rs 8 crores towards the fight against COVID-19. 

The first program of the project commenced on 15th May in safety awareness and distribution event of relief materials to 150 waste workers which were held at Women for Human Rights in Buddhanilkantha, Kathmandu. 

So far, 4 relief programs have been conducted successfully which has directly benefited 460 waste workers. They were provided with safety and awareness programs, food relief packages, dignity kits for female beneficiaries which includes environmental-friendly and reusable sanitary pads along with personal hygiene materials such as soaps, detergents, gloves and essential medicines to ensure their primary needs and protect their livelihood.

Furthermore, protective jumpsuits and safety gears will be provided to 100 frontline waste workers in a relief program on 25th May which will be facilitated by Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu.

The WWERP project is a joint collaboration with Women for Human Rights, Doko recycler, Blue Waste to Value, Nepsemyak and Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI) who have provided a list of waste workers in their network so that the project can have a wider reach.

This initiation aims to reach 3200 waste workers and their families ensuring their safety and livelihood at the current situation of crisis while over 2500 waste workers will be directly benefitted. The project will be further carried out in different municipalities of Kathmandu, Kiritipur, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Lahan, Saptari and Siraha.

Speaking about this initiation  Aananda Mishra, Founder and President, Creasion said, “We are committed to bring positive changes in the lives of waste workers through this initiation in support of The Coca-Cola Foundation.”

Lily Thapa, Founder, Women for Human Rights added, “Waste workers are equally in the front line as other professionals and the least we can do for them from a personal level is segregating waste at our households before disposal. Besides, initiatives like this are a noble way to show collective solidarity and respect for their work.” 

Ambuj Singh, Country Director, Coca-Cola in Nepal shared, “The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in challenging time for everyone. While we all are dealing with this difficult situation it has become quite tough for the waste worker community who are working on the frontline and vulnerable to the outbreak. With our sincere support, we attempt to provide safety and protection of their livelihood so that they do not have to bear negative consequences of the Corona Virus. In this fight against COVID-19 outbreak, we are together with them.
