New Driving License Test may resume only after Two Months
14th December 2020
"Spokesperson Dr Bhusal said that there may be a large crowd of service seekers if it is opened immediately as it has been blocked for a long time."
The new driver's license will not be opened for another two months. The discussion has moved ahead in such a way that if the service, which has been closed for almost nine months, is reopened immediately, it will attract more service recipients and the infection may spread.
The Department of Transportation Management of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, in consultation with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure of the state government, said that it should not be opened immediately. According to him, it is planned not to open the driving license during the months of January and February. "The decision will be made based on the situation after that," he said.
Spokesperson Dr. Lok Nath Bhusal said that there may be a large crowd of service seekers if it is opened immediately as it has been blocked for a long time. Although the examination and distribution of new licenses are done by the state government, the printing and its 'online system' are done by the department.
That is why the state government will issue new licenses only in coordination with the department, he said. He said that many service recipients have asked the department to understand when the license will be opened.
The states are also of the view that immediate attention should be paid to health security rather than hasty opening. He said, "Even though the service recipients are in a hurry, both the federal government and the state government have decided not to open it now." The government had decided to impose a ban last April after the Covid-19 infection, which is spreading globally, started appearing in Nepal as well.
Government offices that had been closed for four months were reopened only in June. Although the transport office started renewal and distribution in June, they have not taken the exam for the new driver's license.
In the previous year, the service recipients did not get the license for a long time, but this year, the department has printed the remaining old license. The department had printed about eight lakh licenses from mass printers. Earlier, the service recipients did not get the license even after a long time, but now many have not been able to take the exam for the license even though they wanted to.
The vehicle training center is imparting training saying that the license will be opened soon.
