Five electric vehicles ready for launch in India

The global auto industry has been undergoing significant transformation, with the industry experiencing multi-dimensional changes. One of these changes is undoubtedly the introduction of electric vehicles in response to the increasing imposition of stringent emission standards, global warming, and so on.

Several countries are setting deadlines for complete electric mobility adoption over the next few decades. Automakers are also working hard to meet deadlines and capture a piece of the EV market. Automakers are not only developing new electric vehicles but also improving batteries and charging infrastructure.

Between 2017 and 2018, global electric vehicle sales increased by 65 percent, totaling 2.1 million EVs. Despite the global economic crisis, sales figures remained consistent in 2019.

However, the deadly Coronavirus pandemic and the resulting global lockdowns have resulted in a 25% drop in electric vehicle sales in the first quarter of 2020. Nonetheless, despite multiple headwinds, electric vehicles are experiencing rising global demand and are expected to see a surge in sales in the coming years.

  • MG Cyberster

MG Motors, a British automaker, has unveiled the MG Cyberster, which it claims is the world's first pure electric super sports car with a gaming cockpit. The MG Cyberster is expected to go into production soon.

The car gets the classic European convertible body style of the MGB Roadster as well as a solid sports car posture. It has a Windhunter-inspired front face design. The interior of the car is designed to look like it's straight out of a video game. The MG Cyberster has modular battery technology that ensures an 800 km range. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. The Cyberster is outfitted with a self-driving L3 intelligent driving system.

  • 2021 Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is unquestionably the best-selling model and the company's main source of revenue. The long-awaited updated Model 3 production version has finally been unveiled by the EV manufacturer.

The updated Tesla Model 3 will be released this year, and Tesla will enter the Indian market with this model. The vehicle has received numerous updates, both on the outside and inside the cabin. The interior is updated with a touchscreen infotainment system, an upgraded sound system, 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, auto-dimming heated mirrors, a tinted glass roof, four USB-C ports, and wireless phone charging, among other things.

  • Audi e-Tron

The Audi e-Tron and Audi e-Tron Sportback are two models that will be available in the Indian market in the coming months. The Audi e-Tron is the company's first all-electric vehicle in India. The car, which is expected to cost Rs. 1.40 crore, will be imported into the country via the CBU route.

The Audi e-Tron is driven by two electric motors, one on each axle. It comes standard with the Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive system. According to Audi, the e-Tron can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.6 seconds. The e-Tron has a range of 400 kilometers on a single charge.

  • Volvo XC40 Recharge

Volvo introduced the XC40 SUV with a diesel engine in the Indian market. However, the company later decided to abandon the diesel engines in favor of the petrol engine. The automaker is now preparing to launch the third generation of the XC40 in India, which will be all-electric.

The electric SUV, dubbed the Volvo XC40 Recharge, is set to arrive in Indian showrooms this year. The Volvo XC40 Recharge is powered by a 402 hp powertrain that propels the vehicle from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds. The electric SUV is said to have a range of 418 kilometers on a single charge.

  • Mercedes EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the automaker's electric flagship sedan. The EQS was recently revealed. The S-Class electric car has a sleek and eye-catching design as well as a slew of unique features.

The car's most intriguing feature is the massive screen on the dashboard that stretches from one side to the other. The combined screen - known as the MBUX Hyperscreen - measures 55 inches.
