MotoGP: the GP of France "could take place in October" according to the organizer

24th May 2020
"The French Motorcycle Grand Prix, initially scheduled for May 17 at Le Mans but postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, "could take place in October," said organizer Claude Michy in a statement on Friday."

A report in AFP states that The French Motorcycle Grand Prix, initially scheduled for May 17 at Le Mans but postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, "could take place in October," said organizer Claude Michy in a statement on Friday.

"We are continuing to work in order to be able to organize the SHARK Helmets Grand Prix de France 2020 at Le Mans in the first half of October," he said.

"This option remains to be confirmed in the coming weeks and we hope for positive development in the health situation despite the uncertainty currently hanging over high-traffic events, having regard to compliance with the rules imposed by the government", concludes the promoter French.

The promoter of MotoGP Dorna and the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) are working on a new calendar that would start on July 19 in Jerez, Spain, without spectators or guests and with a reduced number of people on the paddock.

It would then be a question of organizing "10 to 12 races" in Europe by the end of November, then races outside Europe if possible.

In the MotoGP category, the first eleven events of the 2020 season have either been postponed or canceled due to the pandemic. Moto2 and Moto3 only raced in Qatar in March.
