Nepal government planning a complete digital transformation for its services

During the virtual inauguration of the fourth National ICT Day 2021, Prime Minister KP Oli addressed the government’s plan to make full use of information and communication technology to make government services paperless and faceless.
He added that with the help of available technology the general public shall be provided with quicker services with fewer expenses.
Also with the digital system in place would make the tasks smooth and efficient. The Prime Minister also informed that work related to the development of an information highway that will connect the whole nation into one single network had been expedited. Processes are already on the move to provide internet access to all local levels, ward offices, community schools, and health centers.
The government had begun work to establish and operate an IT Center at all the local levels. The development of IT in Nepal is of absolute necessity, to boost the social-economic status of the people and for long-term overall economic development. PM Oli mentioned the Digital Nepal Framework, 2076, which was introduced by the government to develop digital infrastructure and technology. The framework will also provide opportunities to improve governance and provide a much-needed boost to the government’s aim to create a prosperous nation.
