Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters Launched in India: Features, specifications and prices

"The scooter has been launched in two trims - the base S1 and higher-spec S1 Pro."

Ola Electric announced the launch of the new S1 electric scooter in the Indian market. The scooter has been launched in two trims - the base S1 and higher-spec S1 Pro.

Features

The common features on both trims include a full LED lighting package and a 7.0-inch touch display with navigation. This display is powered by an octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and is supported by WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G connectivity. Whereas the S1 Pro gets features such as Cruise Control, Voice Assist, and Hill Hold, the base trim remains devoid of these features.

Performance

The S1 is rated for a top speed of 90 kmph, while the bigger S1 Pro is capable of attaining a top speed of 120 kmph. The base trim is rated to accelerate from 0-40 kmph in 3.6 seconds, while the higher-spec trim attains this speed in just 3.0 seconds. The company offers three riding modes (Normal, Sport, and Hyper) on the S1 Pro, but the base trim only gets Normal and Sport modes.

Motor and Battery

The base S1 model features a 2.98 kWh battery pack, the S1 Pro packs a bigger 3.97kWh of battery capacity. The S1 is rated to deliver a full charge range of 121 km, and the S1 Pro is capable of delivering 181 km of range on a single charge.

Both the models come with Ola's proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) which works actively to monitor the battery for optimal durability, performance, range, and safety. The charging time consumed by the smaller S1 is 4 hours 48 mins when using a standard home charger, on the other hand, the S1 Pro consumes 6 hours 30 mins.

Price in India

The Ola S1 electric scooter starts from INR 85,099 (ex-showroom, Delhi) available in 6 colours options. Whereas, the higher-spec S1 Pro model has been priced at INR 1,10,149 (ex-showroom, Delhi) available in 10 colours options. 

Ola's electric scooter is based on Etergo’s Appscooter, a Netherlands-based company that was acquired by Ola previously. Ola set up a mega-factory in Bengaluru with an investment of $330 million to manufacture the scooter. 

This facility has been claimed to be the world's largest e-scooter plant. 

Ola Electric hopes to compete with not just Indian rivals Ather Energy, Hero Electric, and Bajaj Auto, but also Chinese brands including Niu Technologies.

5 Upcoming Electric Scooters In India – Suzuki Burgman To Ola

Five new electric scooters are anticipated to be launched in India over the next year. In recent years, Indian automakers have been focusing on electric mobility, and a slew of new EVs are set to hit the market soon.

The electric scooter market has been rapidly expanding, and two-wheeler giants like Bajaj and TVS, as well as a slew of lesser manufacturers like Ather, Okinawa, and others, have already entered the fray. We've compiled a list of five electric scooters that are likely to arrive in India within a year, or before the middle of 2022.

1. Ola electric scooter:

Ola is planning to join the Indian market for electric scooters soon. The company's huge facility in Tamil Nadu is nearly finished, and the first Ola e-scooter will debut in July 2021. The scooter's technical characteristics and other characteristics have yet to be released.

2. Hero Maestro Electric: 

Hero Maestro Electric, Hero MotoCorp revealed the ‘eMaestro Proto' concept electric scooter in April of last year. It's based on the Hero Maestro Edge and is set to debut in India this year as the company's first electric scooter, possibly competing with the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube. 

3. Hero-Gogoro:

Hero-Gogoro is a brand of electric scooter. Hero MotoCorp recently announced a collaboration with Gogoro, a Taiwanese company, to create battery-swappable electric two-wheelers for the Indian market. In India, Gogoro already owns the trademark for the name "Viva," prompting anticipation that the Gogoro Viva will be the first e-scooter to be launched under this cooperation.

4. Ather:

 Ather, a brand-new electric scooter The patent application for Ather's future electric scooter was recently leaked on the internet. The new model has a maxi-scooter design, yet it appears to be quite tiny. The technical details, such as battery size and motor rating, are still unknown. This new e-scooter is expected to be priced higher than the Ather 450X, with a release date in the first half of next year. 

5. Burgman Electric by Suzuki

Suzuki is also preparing to release an electric scooter in India. The Burgman Street 125 has been tested in an electric form, which appears to have the same cycle parts and design as the petrol model. The Suzuki e-scooter is expected to arrive in our market by the end of the year.

Yadea Launches Premium Electric Scooters in Nepal | Review, Models, Specs, Price

Kuzu Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of YADEA brand electric scooter in Nepal has started selling premium scooters in Nepal. 

More than ten years of rapid development, YADEA become a high-end two wheels electric vehicle manufacturing enterprise that integrating research and development, production and electric bicycle sales, electric motorcycles, and their spare parts together.

The Chinese brand Yadea scooters have been sold in more than 80 countries and by 2020, it has become the largest seller of electric scooters.

Premium electric scooter maker YADEA had sold 5 million units of scooters last year.

Kuzu Nepal Pvt. Ltd. has brought Yadea’s excellent scooter of European standard to the Nepali market. At present, you can buy three models of Yadea’s C1S, G5, and S-Like from its well-equipped showroom in Tangal.

Model: YADEA C-1S

The Yadea C1S uses a GTR 3.0 broadband motor similar to the G5. The motor provides a maximum power of 2200 watts, while its rated power is 1800 watts. This motor also generates a maximum of 138 Nm of torque.

The top speed of this scooter is 60 kilometers per hour.

It has a 60-volt, 32 amp Panasonic lithium-ion battery pack. It takes 6 hours to fully charge it. It offers a range of 80 kilometers on a single full charge.

The life cycle of this battery is 800. Similarly, this battery can operate at a temperature of minus 20 to 55 degrees Celsius.

It has 9 types of safety protection. It has features like short circuit protection, over current protection, overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, pre-discharge protection, balanced function, over-temperature protection, riding mode.

The Yadea C1S has a 5-inch digital instrument cluster. It also has a smart keyless integrated solution system. It also has 12-inch tubeless tires, disc brakes on both sides, and a storage capacity of 25 liters.

Price of Yadea C-1S is set at MRP 3,65,000.

 

Yadea G5 in Nepal

Model: YADEA G5

GTR 3.0 broadband motor is used in the G5 scooter which comes in an attractive design. The motor provides a maximum power of 2300 watts and its rated power is 1200 watts. Similarly, this motor generates a maximum of 120 Nm of torque. This motor is IP 57 waterproof rated. This scooter can be driven at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

The G5 comes with a 60-volt, 32-amp Panasonic Lithium-ion battery pack. It takes 6 hours to fully charge it. It offers a range of 80 kilometers on a single full charge. The life cycle of this battery is 800. The battery used in it can operate at a temperature of minus 20 to 55 degrees Celsius.

It has a short circuit, over-current protection, and overcharge protection features.

The Yadea G5 has a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Its front face is made of high-quality aluminum. There are also 12-inch tubeless tires, disc brakes on both wheels, and all types of LEDs. It has a storage capacity of 26 liters. 

The Price of Yadea G5 has been set at MRP 3,45,000.

Model: YADEA S-LIKE

GTR 3.0 broadband motor is also used in Yadea S-Like. The motor provides a maximum power of 1200 watts and its rated power is 2000 watts. Similarly, this motor generates a maximum of 120 Nm of torque.

This motor is IP 57 waterproof rated. The top speed of this scooter is 50 kilometers per hour.

It has a 60-volt, 24 amp lithium-ion battery pack. It takes 6 hours to fully charge. It offers a range of 60 kilometers on a single full charge. It also has the facility of a double battery.

The life cycle of this battery is 800. These include short circuits, over-current protection, shock protection, and overcharge protection.

The Yadea S-Like has a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Its LCD display will adjust automatically during the day and night.

 It also uses 12-inch tubeless tires with discs on the front and drum brakes on the rear. It has a storage capacity of 18 liters. 

The Price of Yadea S-like has been set at MRP 2,45,000.

Kuzu Nepal Pvt. Ltd is offering a cash discount of Rs. 25,000 to each model of electric scooter to the first 15 customers. During this scheme, a total of 45 customers will get a cash discount of NRs 25,000.
