Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announced today a limited launch of the "C+pod" ultra-compact battery electric vehicle (BEV) to corporate users, local governments, and other organizations that have been exploring new options to drive the popularization of BEVs.
A full-scale launch including to individual customers by 2022.
With a compact body measuring (2,490 x 1,290 x 1,550 mm), and a minimum turning radius of 3.9 m, the C+pod comfortably navigates sharp corners on narrow roads, minimizes steering wheel operation when parking, and provides excellent maneuverability in everyday driving.
The under-floor location of the lithium-ion battery in front of the seat creates a flat, low-floor package that minimizes steps.
The motor is positioned in the rear of the vehicle, while the combination of a rigid, lightweight body and independent suspension system, that absorbs irregularities in the road surface, achieves high-quality riding comfort and brisk yet stable driving performance.
The C+pod comes with a cruising range of up to 150 km single charge.

United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd., the sole distributor for Toyota in Nepal, has commenced the sales and distribution of Toyota Corolla Cross in Nepal. Considering the current situation, the company has launched the new Toyota Corolla Cross through digital platforms for the first time. The launch was aired live on the official Facebook and Instagram page of Toyota Nepal at 12 noon today.
Since its launch in Japan in 1966, the Corolla series has sold a cumulative total of 48 million units or more, in more than 150 countries and regions around the world; it is Toyota's best-selling car. Toyota vehicles are one of the most preferred Japanese vehicles in Nepal. This new SUV edition of the world-renowned Toyota nameplate Corolla is is produced in Thailand.
This vehicle is built in the 4-cylinder TGNA platform, which supports its advanced design, stability, and overall performance. This car has a CVT transmission that makes this SUV faster, produces low emission, and also makes this light vehicle. The Corolla Cross will get a 1.8-liter petrol engine that makes 140 hp and 175 Nm of torque. This engine drives the front wheels through a CVT. It measures 4,460mm long, 1,825mm wide, and 1,620mm high.
The front grill on the exterior of the car gives it an elegant look. The accent lines on the entire body of the car have made it sturdier and more distinct. Corolla Cross has one of the longest wheelbases which ensures stability at high speeds and a more comfortable ride. The Corolla has continued to evolve in line with the needs of the times and of the regions, it is sold in. By adding a new model to the Corolla series to suit the growing demand of SUVs, the enhanced Corolla line-up enables customers to select the model that better suits their diverse lifestyles and life stages.
The interiors of the new Corolla Cross SUV is also very luxurious and comfortable. It has a very spacious interior and ample leg space. The Moon Roof in the car provides more light inside the vehicle.
This vehicle has a minimum of 5.2 meters turning radius which is among the best in its class. In order to provide maximum comfort to the driver, the Corolla Cross is installed with the new Torsion Beam Suspension. Similarly, the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Back Monitor, ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist Control, Emergency Stop Signal, etc. are the other special features of the vehicle.
There is a large touchscreen jutting out of the dashboard, a digital gauge cluster, and the same air vents as the hatch. Toyota says the Corolla Cross offers ample interior space for up to five passengers and up to 487 liters of space with a puncture repair kit (440 liters with a temporary spare tire). The features list will include a multi-info instrument cluster display, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, drive mode selector, a nine-inch touchscreen head unit, T-Connect telematics, reclining rear seats, and a powered tailgate with hands-free access.
As for safety items, seven airbags come as standard and the Toyota Safety Sense suite is available on higher-end variants. The suite includes the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, Blind Spot Monitor, an around-view monitor, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Currently, there are 2 variants of Toyota Corolla Cross available in Nepal.
The entry model is priced at Rs.11,650,000 and the high model is priced at Rs.13,800,000.
