Aprilla aims to introduce 350-450CC motorcycle by 2023
"These motorcycles are said to be designed in Italy but produced in India and are expected to launch by 2023."
Aprilia created quite a hum at the auto expo 2018 when RS 150 and the Tuono 150 were launched. People were excited for its launch as it was thought to be a solid alternative to Yamaha YZF-R15 almost after a decade of its launch. It seems that Aprilia didn’t quite see a huge market for premium performance-focused offering in the 150cc space, forcing them to shelve the plans of launching the RS 150 and Tuono 150 in our market.
The Italian brand is now thinking of 350-450cc space. At a virtual round-table conference, Diego Graffi, CEO and MD of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd said that Aprilia has spotted a more interesting and steady trend in the 350-450cc space. The coming motorbike will be designed in Italy and will flaunt the brand’s family design. Graffi also revealed that the motorcycle will be based on an all-new platform and will be produced and sold in India, and exported to other markets as well. The Aprilla 350-450cc motorcycle is still in the concept stage and will be launched nearly 2-2.5 years later. When launched, the new Aprilia will compete against the likes of the BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 offerings.
