The Nepal Oil Corporation has made some proposals on ways to reduce consumption of petroleum products. Accordingly, it has proposed a quota system in fuel to be provided to two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
The Corporation, which has been bearing huge losses in the sales of petroleum products, proposed quota at a time for bikes and cars.
Furthermore, the state-owned corporation, also proposed that the vehicles ply on the road on the basis of odd and even number plate except for those relating to essential services and public services.
Another proposal is to announce vehicle-free public holiday every Saturday in major cities, according to Corporation's spokesperson Binit Mani Upadhyay.
Proposals also include installing charging stations in the national highways and providing charge facility for major cities for electric vehicles (EV) for free of cost to promote usage of EV.
Determining suitable space for parking and for providing free charging facilities for both private and public electric vehicles is also one of the proposals put forward by the Corporation to cut down of the increasing utility of petroleum products.
The Corporations calls for encouraging walking on short route instead of using vehicles for brief travels and operating vehicles used for ferrying goods in optimal capacity of the vehicles among others.
