AVO Nepal signs agreement with Aakansha Creation to create jobs for Sindhupalchowk’s displaced women
"Nepal Avocado Farming and Industries P. Ltd has joined hands with Aakansha Creation P. Ltd, to create jobs for displaced women in Sindhupalchowk district."
Nepal Avocado Farming and Industries P. Ltd have signed an agreement with Aakansha Creation P. Ltd, Cottage and Small Industries to create jobs for women affected by landslides and floods in Sindhupalchowk district.
Battered by a series of natural disasters in July and August that caused a huge loss to life and property, Sindhupalchowk was declared a crisis-hit region through a government announcement on 24 September 2020. Many people had suffered a huge loss and were unable to rise on their own. Thereupon, the government, as well as other different organizations, is planning for different initiations to uplift the lives of people residing in Sindupalchowk.
The social campaign will be led by Tekka Initiatives of Aakansha Creations in collaboration with the local ward office. The campaign will organize training for the affected women to make soft toys by crochet, a process of creating textiles by using a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials.
After the training is completed, the women will be provided with a job opportunity to produce soft toys for AVO Nepal. The toys made by the women will be sold in different countries including Nepal, India, and Japan. As the concept was developed with a vision to uplift the economic condition and lifestyle of displaced women, all the materials, as well as training will be provided free of cost.
“It’s our absolute pleasure to collaborate with Tekka Initiative to start something inspiring”, said Ms. Sudixya Adhikari, the Co-Founder, and Director of AVO Nepal. “Our company is focused on promoting Nepali Avocado and its various sub-categories of products. To launch our brand with soft toys is not only a part of our business strategy but also our intention to help marginalized communities, especially women. We were looking for a company that worked with women and found Tekka Initiative as a perfect match for our objective.”
The Managing Director of Aakansha Creation said, “We plan to offer training on crochet and supply materials free of cost. Once they complete the training, we will use their skills to manufacture soft toys with an intention to provide jobs to at-least 100 women in the next six months”.
