2024 Mahindra XUV500 Likely to Fight The Creta
"The XUV500 has had a major impact on the Indian and Nepalese car markets since its launch in 2011"
The XUV 500 has had a major impact on the Indian and Nepalese car markets since its launch in 2011.
This model was one of the most popular on the market due to its large bulky appearance and better practicality than a sedan. The XUV offers excellent value for money and a wide variety of optional features. From an automatic transmission to all-wheel drive, the XUV has everything an SUV needs. However, Mahindra has recently decided to phase out the XUV 500 for the time being.
Design
The new Mahindra XUV 500 is expected to be replaced in the near future by the XUV 700 (W601), leaving us to wonder what will happen to the XUV500 badge. Mahindra has officially announced that the original XUV 500 will be phased out as the new XUV 700 is about to enter the Indian market. The XUV500 will be reintroduced as a 5-seater version of the XUV 700, according to previous reports. The new Mahindra XUV 500 will be unveiled as a mid-size SUV to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, according to a recent media report. According to rumors, the new model will be approximately 4.3 meters long and will compete with mid-sized SUVs with similar dimensions.
The XUV 700 will be larger, more luxurious, and more costly than the car it replaces (the original XUV500), making it a good fit for the newly developed seven-seater market. This will leave a large gap between it and the XUV 300, which will be filled by this all-new SUV (codename: S301). The new SUV will be built on an upgraded version of Mahindra's XUV 300 platform. The XUV 300 is based on the X100 architecture, which is also used in SsangYong's Tivoli SUV. The styling of the 5-seater XUV 500 is unknown, but we expect it to be similar to existing Mahindra models such as the XUV 300 and XUV 700.
Interior
A panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, a power-adjustable driver seat, an electronic parking brake (with auto-hold), dual-zone climate control, smart car technology, and more are expected to be included in the upcoming 5-seater XUV 500. Level-1 ADAS, such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking, that will be available on the XUV700, may also be available here.
Engine
Mahindra engineers will have to concentrate on reducing the platform's weight to save money. The Mahindra XUV500 or S301 can be fitted with a modified version of the XUV 300's 1.5-litre diesel engine, which complies with BS6 Phase II emission regulations, which will take effect in 2023. The SUV will also be equipped with the 1.5-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 163bhp. In India, the vehicle is scheduled to debut in early 2024.
